People often take issue when I say “we.” But I think it’s important to phrase it that way.

This isn’t what I want. It’s not what I voted for. But this is what’s being done in our name. It’s we.
i think it is important to say that yes, WE murdered eight more people. We the people.
We just murdered eight more people in boats.

Isn’t SNAP fraud good for farmers? More government subsidized food sales!

The broad strokes of it likely are.

Congress gave Secretary of Homeland Security the authority to make “national interest waivers” for EB-2 employment visas [8 USC 1153(b)(2)(B)(i)], and separately gave the Secretary of Commerce authority to accept gifts to for use by the Department [15 USC 1522].

If there’s an actual community behind a co-op, it might be something more, but on its own it’s just one way for multiple parties to manage a building that they own together.

Seems like they are more “flexible” than the modern condominium ownership structure, which has pros and clearly cons.

Back in the day they'd actually grow the chia for their product shots. Now it's all just photoshop.

The missing bullet point is that the premiums for this are incredibly expensive. The premiums are set to reflect the risk and there isn’t intended to be any subsidy.

It isn’t a bomb (it’s a “nuclear generator”) and I suspect there are easier ways to get your hands on an equivalent amount of plutonium.

Wondery did a season of Against the Odds about it.
Against The Odds - Season 23: Himalayan Spy Mission
It’s 1965 and amid escalating Cold War tensions, the CIA joins forces with India’s Intelligence Bureau to spy on China’s budding nuclear weapons program. Together they come up with an audacious plan: ...

That story is wild. We wanted to setup a MASINT station up there to surveil Chinese nuclear weapons testing, and needed electricity. It was the 60s, so they thought a small “nuclear generator” was a good idea. They lost it when it slid down the side of the mountain in a storm.

Basically CBS isn’t acting as a news source in its own right in this situation, so you don’t need to evaluate it as such. You should evaluate it as if you were just watching the BBC on their own site… see number 6.

Number 3 is where an outlet is reporting something in their own words, but sourced it from another outlet. It can 1) obscure the source of the original information, 2) make it appear more credible than it actually is, and 3) make it look like there’s more sources than there actually are.

I wouldn’t count it as that. They are simply rebroadcasting the BBC feed, with attribution and no modifications.

The president is probably the last person I’d trust as a reliable source during fast moving breaking news events.

My understanding is that the Raytheon brand still exists as an RTX business unit (along with Collins Aerospace and Prat & Whitney)
December 13, 2025 at 10:49 PM
Apparently after the merger with United Technologies Corporation, they shortened “Raytheon Technologies Corporation” to “RTX”.

The attitude might be a bit crass, but the frustration is very real.

Commercially available batteries shouldn’t be a significant safety concern, on the ground or in the air. The whole situation reeks of asymmetric information and market failure.
