Oh he’s here! Great. I didn’t realise. As you say, a top man 😎

Thanks! I’d seen them and wondered if they were equally as good.

Just discovered this magnificent compilation. Crammed full of quality late-era disco and early house, electro, and hip-hop from a cracking independent New York record label. Very strong recommend.

I remain sceptical that Biden or any other president could have made Bibi stop. Rancid as it is, Trump is probably the only person capable of doing it.
monicamarks.bsky.social
Biden could have ended it much earlier & taken the credit. That he didn’t—and that Kamala refused to even platform a single Palestinian on the DNC’s stage last summer—speaks to his ideological blinkered-ness & her failure to grasp & take control of the situation.

This Israeli government decision to host Tommy Robinson will widen the growing gulf between the Netanyahu government and the British public, including the broad majority of Jews in Britain (3/4 of whom dsapproved of Netanyahu, before this new link to this anti-Muslim racist UK far right convict).

Really interesting thread. Well worth a read.

On the morning of Keir Starmer's conference speech here's a new post on an odd psychopathology in British politics - our main parties don't like the people who vote for them - the dreaded Professional Managerial Class. And so they are acting out like a divorced dad seeking cooler voters. 1/n

Happy to acknowledge this is not a verbatim quote by Hannah. That’ll learn me. This however is, from an interview she gave in 1973, which says something very close in spirit and impact. Doesn’t alter the fact that she should still be compulsory reading right now.

Useful reminder from Peter Kellner on the problems we refuse to acknowledge are getting better, and the politics of hopelessness that this breeds

Entirely accurate.

Reform is a (bad) mood and not a political party in the traditional sense.

Its followers don't care about facts. They care about their beliefs.

No amount of fact checking will work and their critics need to adjust to that.

You cannot defeat delusion with reason.

Keir Starmer blasts Nigel Farage over 'unrealistic' plans that 'foster division'
Keir Starmer's press secretary said Nigel Farage had no interest in fixing the problems gripping Britain with its proposals to scrap the main route to British citizenship for migrants

Classic Labour combatting of the Reform proposal to recind past indefinite leave to remain status. 'Unworkable'. What does that even mean? Sounds like civil servants arguing amongst each other. To be swept aside with 'of course it's workable'.

Sad news. I was interviewed a couple of times by John Stapleton on GMTV back in my Jane’s days. He was totally lovely, and, unlike many interviewers, clearly took his time and pleasure to engage with me and the subject. Condolences to his loved ones.
