Mike Johnson views his primary role as Speaker to prevent as many votes as possible on things that would easily pass because a bipartisan majority favors them. That is exactly what he has done his entire tenure. He blocks things majorities want and keeps the House out of session for long stretches.

The Republican chairs of both the House and Senate Armed Services committees signed a letter yesterday stating that they requested specific info many weeks ago on these strikes and the WH & Pentagon have refused to provide it. If the story is fake news, then turn everything over.

I finally saw a Kinglet (maybe two?) yesterday. My Mom heard a theory that songbirds may be catching bird flu from domestic poultry, causing a lot casualties. Sadly, it makes sense.

This seems a significantly worse "tell" of derangement
-Sen Kelly has flown nearly 40 *combat missions* as a pilot.
-He's done 375+ carrier landings (Jeesh!)
-He's been in space as astronaut.
-He's flown 50+ different kinds of aircraft

Setting aside for a second the lunacy and authoritarianism surrounding the Trump/Hegseth threat to court martial Mark Kelly, it is also politically moronic. No military court or jury would uphold this, and you only do Kelly a tremendous favor by making him more popular than ever.

All of our backyard birds are more scarce than usual this year. Maybe it's the hawks, but I haven't really seen that many hawks either. It's always happy to be able to catch a glimpse of a wee Ruby-crowned kinglet. Alexandria, Virginia 11.17.2025 #birds
