Hela am draenogiaid y môr!

An angler out for the winter sea bass on the estuarine stretch of the Nevern. Fish of 12lb been caught! But I thought the summer was better? Rod long enough to keep you in the channel, stout enough to take a hit. A wee sand eel spinning on the end. More bliss than bass.

Really good article by @alexjclark.bsky.social in today’s @guardianbooks.bsky.social on who writes and reads ‘nature writing’ — that lucrative echo chamber of often emotional narrative, lined with lovely woodcut covers. I like @herdyshepherd.bsky.social’s take on it — less detached more real.

A fragment of Irish rainforest near Moycullen, Galway. These places are so rare, so deeply enchanting, yet still so undervalued.

What sort of nation cares so little about the natural side of its heritage?

Sow, grow, plant, grow on. Peas, French-climbing, runners and broad beans. A bit of horticultural therapy this evening. Soil not too embarrassing to show it off!

How can you tax an institution like an Electric Milk Float?

Definitely leaves a sour taste! Must be the milk.

More of my older artwork- this ink piece is based on the Scottish fairy tale, Tam Lin.
This piece has a lot of sentimental value -I created it in 2021 whilst I was working on a COVID ward, and working on it slowly over several weeks was an amazing way to escape from that reality when I got home.
