📱10 years ago, my phone was stolen. I got it back but many aren’t so lucky.

Phone thefts have doubled in London to 64,000 a year. We have a solution.

We need phone companies to work with the Met to stop it.

I spoke to The Metro #PhoneTheft 👇🏾

My statement on the 2nd Anniversary of the October 7th Attacks
Two years on, we remember the horrific terrorist attacks of October 7th 2023, when Hamas brutally murdered innocent people in Israel and took hostages, including British citizens. The pain and grief of that day is still felt deeply.

As I fought alongside my constituent Noam and his wife for the release of his mother, Ada Sagi, I recall the anguish and fear endured until the day she was finally freed. The relief felt when she was returned to her family was immense but that joy was set against the unimaginable grief of others still waiting for their loved ones to return, and the sorrow of those whose families will never be whole again. My heart remains with them. We must continue to demand the release of all remaining hostages without delay.

Here in the UK, we must also confront the painful reality of antisemitism. The vile terrorist attack on Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester last week is a stark reminder of the dangers we face if hatred and division are allowed to spread. Our Jewish communities must never feel unsafe in their own places of worship, on our streets, or in any aspect of their daily lives.

We must stand united against antisemitism and all forms of hate. We must ensure Brent, London and the rest of the country are places where every community can live freely, without fear and with respect.

On this day it is also our responsibility to acknowledge the suffering and trauma endured in Gaza. Tens of thousands of innocent civilians have been killed, many are starving and families have been torn apart. Israel's ongoing ethnic cleansing continues to devastate lives every single day. We call for an end to all violence, for the release of Palestinian prisoners held without trial, for full humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza and for an enduring peace between the states of Palestine and Israel. With a safe and secure Israel and a viable Palestine.

Two years on from October 7th, we must honour all victims by renewing our determination …

These new figures prove that when people are put at the heart of Oxford Street, the area thrives and businesses benefit.

That’s why I am moving forward with the next stage of my proposals to pedestrianise Oxford Street and revitalise the area as quickly as I can. www.cityam.com/oxford-stree...
Oxford Street pedestrianisation boosts sales, survey finds
Oxford Street was closed to traffic for eight hours on Sunday 21st September in a pilot test to fully pedestrianise the high street.

It was an honour to visit The Purpose of Light exhibition by the incredible @misanharriman.bsky.social at Hope 93 gallery.

An unforgettable experience, unlike anything I’ve ever encountered - it must be seen in person. Runs til 30th Oct.

Fantastic news for Willesden Green! 🎉

This is the difference as the MP working with local groups and Cllrs.

The scaffolding came down earlier this year and now the station is moving forward in TfL’s Step-Free Access programme.

Special thanks to late Martin Redston & Cllr Tariq Dar.

Congratulations to Dame Sarah Mullally DBE on becoming the first woman to serve as Archbishop of Canterbury.

A truly historic moment that shows the importance of women’s leadership in every walk of life. Wishing her well in this new role.

On Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, we all stand united against this barbaric attack.

My thoughts are with the Jewish community in Manchester and with the families and loved ones of those affected. We must stand together against hatred in all its forms.

One of the hardest-working MPs at conference? 😉

From the Jamaica Party to debating housing, digitising democracy, sustainable growth & engaging young people in politics plus a DJ set for @labourlist.bsky.social!

Always great to spend time with members and share ideas.

Thank you Liverpool!

A huge thank you to award winning photographer @misanharriman.bsky.social for helping me mark 20 years since I was first elected to Parliament. And the first Black woman to speak from the despatch box.

🚨 These are not even the worst, but cant show ones reported to the police.

The far right think they’re winning. They’re wrong!

We are the firewall. Join my fight against the far right. ✊🏾

Are you with us, or with them? #ButlerBlocks

20 years ago I was elected as an MP in Brent.

It’s been the honour of my life to speak truth to power, fight for fairness & give a voice to those too often ignored.

3rd Black woman ever elected and first to speak from the despatch box as a government minister.

I’m more than humbled.

This is what campaigning achieves.

Councils will soon have stronger powers to stop more betting & vape shops. A huge win for communities.

But the job isn’t done. The next step is scrapping Aim to Permit once and for all.

Trump’s Islamophobic rhetoric has no place in London or the UK. We will always stand up for our city, our values, and our mayor. 👇🏾

Retrospectively changing the rights of people to stay in the UK isn't fair, isn't right and is certainly not the British way.
To Farage they are,"low skilled migrants."
To the majority of Brits, they are our friends and neighbours, working as teachers, carers and in small businesses.

Honoured to speak at the Black Writers guild alongside so many inspiring voices.

As the far right grows bolder, solidarity is our firewall. We must resist together, make “good trouble” together and stand united for justice.

Thank you Nels Abbey & all the brilliant speakers.

Firstly, it's 'Prime Minister Starmer' to you.

Secondly you can keep your Islamophobic tropes about our country to yourself.

Your dismissive response on recognising the State of Palestine, coming from a man wanted by the International Criminal Court, proves our Govt was right.

Wishing everyone in Brent and beyond Happy Navratri!✨
