It is genuinely amazing that the people who are working on the Bubsy collection were able to fix one of the most glaring problems with one of the worst games ever made and take it from a 1 out of 10 to a 5 out of 10
Humanity has amassed too much power. Bubsy 3D was never meant to be played like this

Chris Schlarb is going through some stuff. He did both the Dropsy OST and wrote and recorded the music from fictitious 70s jazz-rock band Klyfta for Hypnospace Outlaw
The Big Ego label / studio has been having some very lame landlord / lease issues, resulting in $30K's worth of legal fees.

Give what you can — and check out an @aquariumdrunkard.com baker's dozen of amazing Big Ego releases from over the years. aquariumdrunkard.com/2025/09/10/a...

this is just my two cents, but when calling your Republican senator about this, i think you should avoid the standard anti-AI talking points and bring up:
• potential for scams on the elderly
• reinforcing mental illness and delusional thinking
• federal government taking away power from the states
The US ban on state AI regulation may be voted on in the senate very soon. If you live in one of these states - FL, MO, TX, TN, WI, AK, ME - please call your senators & ask them to remove the "state AI regulation ban" in the budget reconciliation bill NOW! Link to call & what to say in next post 1/

I interviewed @jaytholen.net in a Dev Dive about Hypnospace Outlaw- with some small hints towards it's sequel, Dreamsettler!

We discuss the inspirational power of the internet and the freedom that comes from creating totally original worlds.

There's an earnest beating heart in this game, and it tries its hardest to show you how to find meaning and purpose in a society where every system is set up to exploit you. It wants you to see beauty in the little moments in-between, in connections with others, and to savor it when you see it.

rise and shine, gamer. there are 100 indie games listed on the computer in front of you. describe each of them without once referencing Earthbound, King's Field, Resident Evil, Dark Souls, Paper Mario, or Return of the Obra Dinn and your one life is yours. you have one hour. let the game begin.

and Ambergris & c (Vandermeer) - it's distinct from, say, grimdark because the worlds are general weird and/or magical in a way those books' worlds don't tend to me, and distinct from high fantasy because of the lowly status of the protagonists. Any other good fits?

Examples I've thought of that (to a greater or lesser extent) fit the model include: Etched City (Bishop), City of Stairs & c (Bennett), Perdido St Station & c (Mieville), Gogmagog & c (Noon/Beard), my Tyrant Philosopher books, and maybe even Gormenghast (Peake). /3

1) a 2ndary world with a lot of weird stuff going on, that is fully worked into that world (i.e. not just middle ages and there are secret wizards somewhere)
2) a lot of everyday mundane detail interleaved and co-existing with this, and usually a cast of characters who are very low-power & ordinary

I'm gathering books for a sort of sub-sub-region of fantasy fiction I'm trying to plot out, which City of Last Chances and its fellows belong in. I've realised there's a definite tradition it belongs in, and one I always enjoy reading. In brief, the characteristics seem to be... 1/
