This is a different kind of Pup Cup.
A female wolf has been doing something unusual on the Central Coast of British Columbia. She's learned to pull crab traps up from the water, yanking on a rope to bring it to the surface. But is it tool use? Very fun story from @phiejacobs.bsky.social for @science.org
Have wild wolves learned to use tools?
Video captures a lone female pulling crab traps out of the water, but does it count as tool use?

SEATTLE!!!

We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

Please check your ballots to make sure they were counted. It takes 5 minutes. And fixing issues is just as quick.
There's still a lot of curable ballots from Seattle (about 1,800). Most are unsigned or signature mismatches, and most skew younger.

We’re on the right track! Make sure you track your ballot to confirm it is accepted, NOT challenged. Check our links in bio to do so! More votes will be counted on Monday!

Saka should take a look at the org charts of both ST and Metro and maybe meet with the police chiefs of each before coming up with another useless layer of bureaucracy.
Rob Saka wants to take money *directly* from transit service funding to pay for a new "Chief Transit Security and Safety Officer" at the City of Seattle.

That's despite the fact that King County is directly in charge of many of the things this new position would be trying to direct.

If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

In our house, we call it the "Not-so-Rapid-Ride."
Seattle’s 2nd busiest bus is pausing this project waiting for a new president in 2029 instead of just deploying what they can for $90 million dollars.

How much does painting the lane cost? I’ll do it for $2 million dollars, then you can come back and finish the rest in 2037 or whatever
King County Metro has slashed the budgets for the RapidRide K and R Lines by 20% to 25%, which could scale back planned reliability improvements and rider amenities. The move raises serious questions about the future of the overall RapidRide program.

Day 2 of the Republican shutdown. Your regular reminders:

1. GOP controls government. They control what bills get voted on and the vote thresholds for each bill. Senate GOP can pass their bad funding bill today if they felt like it.

2. Dems are fighting to lower costs and save healthcare.

I’m told I need to find a way to live together, in harmony, with these loathsome bigots, and I don’t really feel any desire to try. I would rather work to undermine them, to humiliate them, to deny them peace or joy.

If someone continues to remain employed at an institution that caves to fascism, that is a choice on their part. It might be a difficult choice. It might be a painful choice. But it is a choice.

People have the right to make that choice.

They have no right to be free of consequences.
