I think that growth mindset is something that we need to work on with families. Many of them came up through school with a fixed mindset, because of treatment they got there. There is real damage to repair. #ElemMathChat

Just letting students and parents know that setbacks are just that. They are not the end.

We also need to allow students the opportunity to learn from mistakes… we don’t get adults who bounce back from failure unless we build kids who can. #ElemMathChat

I think we can work together with families to understand what real numeracy looks like… and give the important work of the primary grades the time it needs. Some folks rush to get to what they see as more important- the algorithms. That is not the way. #ElemMathChat

Make sure that we are actually the teaching students we have. We have this thing in some places where we don’t push students “because their lives are hard.” We allow them to set low expectations for themselves. #ElemMathChat

That's unconstitutional -- even the DOJ recognizes journalists' right to cover how law enforcement disperses protesters.

But it also shows what a giant waste of taxpayer funds it is to prosecute journalists for doing their jobs.

Student journalist Lucas Griffith faces trial today for covering a protest against the deportation of Ayman Soliman, who himself fled persecution for his journalism in Egypt.

Lucas did nothing wrong. This is a big deal and would be national news in normal times.
