Tech is in an interesting place where some of the most accomplished engineers in the industry now say their job is now just telling AI to write all the code, debug it and fix the bugs.

Some of this is marketing hype from people who are selling AI tools (Boris works on Claude Code) but it rings true

🤡There's never been a time in US history where people expect you to apologize *for being white*. People expect you to apologize*for being pro-racism*.

Worldwide, fewer than half of all white people are pro-racism.♥️

In the US it takes an active disinfo campaign to keep the pro-racism group > 50%.

...because now we need to build CDOs for data center expansion. Let's create more dogshit wrapped in catshit.
Bessent: "These 2008, 2009, 2010 financial rules were too tight. They hamstrung the American financial system. It was time for a change ... we have to take the financial system out of this straitjacket ... the regulated system is too constrained."

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

This is a great question & resulting thread.

Also props to Mekka for enjoying drywalling - I always screw it up. I guess literally but also figuratively in a major way.
Double aside: which trade would you align with if you didn't have a cushy tech job is a great question!

Electrician/networking is too obvious so I disallow that.

I'd either do drywall or framing.

Roofing is out. Not because of fall risk, but because it is so hot up there! Did once. Never again.🙅🏿‍♂️

With Micron leaving the consumer segment, AI infrastructure expansion is not only going to be artificially propping up GDP it will accelerate inflation. Top that with all this infrastructure being funded by collateralized debt, it smells like we're in for 2008++

You can't separate this from the Atlantic article claiming their are too many students with disabilities. It's a moral panic meant to push out young people with disabilities from access to resources and to reify ableist bigotry. It's exactly what they did to trans people.

I just found this little solar robot bug I made 20 years ago.

It captures many qualities:
- Art & Design Constraint
- electrical hacks, using components “the wrong way”
- extreme minimalism for max results

Also, something interesting changed while it sat for 20 years!

Let me explain…

When the bubble pops, these data centers will be useless with no customers to buy their services. The GPUs will be useless in 3 years so they can't even wait out the crash like the housing market. So banks and investors are stuck holding the bag with useless data centers and GPUs.

BNDX is nice, whatever, just pick something boring and stable that isn't tied to the economy that's like 40% AI right now
This feels like one of those stories you're going to look at a year from now and say to yourself, "Why didn't I move more of my portfolio into cash?" **

Every government subsidizes something. The only difference is what the governments choose to subsidize.

In the US, we've chosen to subsidize the creation of trillionaires, through massive tax breaks. Not what I would choose, but hey. 🤷🏿‍♂️

We got an Elon. They got solar cells, batteries, and EVs.
