I’d like to know what are the specifics protections. I’d also like the workers to step forward so we can move to the next step.

I’d say that the announcement should include that information so the misinformation can stop. The speculations aren’t needed but this half ass acknowledgement sows the bs.
This is odd, but not unexpected. This is what it looks like when lawyers get involved at the last minute from defamation risk, source safety, or government pressure that no one wants to admit publicly.
