The lesson of history is that tyrants cannot be appeased.

Appeasement only feeds their insatiable hunger for power.

Tyrants prey on people who feel unsafe and vulnerable.

But without mass submission, a tyrant is powerless.

Remember this.

Remembering the time I had strep throat while pregnant. I was so miserable, I couldn’t sleep at all and gargled small sips of children’s Tylenol for relief. (Also took Tylenol for the aches and fever.)

My kids are hella smart AND each neurodiverse in their own way— consistent with our family tree.

The concentration of wealth in the hands of a few isn't just bad for our economy. It's corrosive to our democracy.

When the wealthy and well-connected control our political system, regular people don't have a voice.

The result? The demagoguery and corruption we're seeing now.

“Middle America” isn’t crazy in feeling they’ve lost something since the 1950/60s. They just believe the lies they are fed that what they miss about the post-WWII era is all the minorities being less privileged than themselves.

Happy Labor Day.
Look at this graph.

The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest. As unions have weakened, inequality has widened.

This is why we must build back union power.

The upward redistribution of wealth over the past 50 years has shifted $80 trillion from the bottom 90% of Americans to the top 1%.

That’s $80 trillion that would have gone into the paychecks of the working class.

The greatest trick of all is trickle-down economics.

Attended the Back to School event with my social middle schooler and it was exactly the vicarious reset/start of the school year energy I needed.

If I get a PhD it will be for the vibes.

The strength of our democracy and who our economy works for are intertwined.

We cannot talk about one without the other.

Remember: There is nothing natural or inevitable about extreme inequality; it’s the result of an economic system that values wealth and power over human dignity and justice.

It doesn't have to be this way.

I'm not sure who turned my words into a meme, and included U.S. citizens (most of whom do not want a new war!), but I appreciate how many people are connecting with it.

May all of us, in all of our different situations, somehow help bring the justice this world so desperately needs. 💔

Netanyahu has spent the better part of two decades trying to strong arm the United States into an unprovoked war against Iran and finally found a president stupid enough to do it for him. Unbelievable.

A friend just asked me what I do to stay hopeful and I told him one of my favorite strategies…I stay hopeful by remembering that no one has any idea what the fuck is going to happen, so as long as we don’t know, we gotta do what we can.

What manufacturing in America means—

Americans want: union jobs for an upwardly mobile middle class

Oligarchs want: deregulation to devalue your service labor

Trump offers: chaos
A huge majority of Americans say that more people should work in manufacturing - but that they, personally, don't want to.

I wondered where the red hair in my family originated and Family Tree tells me it’s the King of Scotland circa 1400s.

Very like my dad to plug away at family history but never mention that tidbit. (It’s not a Mormon pioneer story and he wouldn’t want us to think anything of it!)

Mother’s Day started at 6:15am when my 9yo woke me up with a request to turn off the nighttime screen settings (that ended at 6:30am)— and then wished me Happy Mother’s Day with a hug.

I hate fraud so much. I was lucky to be raised by a deeply ethical dad who worked in the real estate industry in Florida and so was constantly bringing home stories of the worst kinds of guys getting rich in ways that they felt were "illegal but fine" but were actually the worst kinds of theft.

We can connect to each other best when we allow ourselves to be human

That is the secret

Perfection was always a wall they told us to build, so we would never be able to touch each other, hold on to each other

because together we are powerful

and that matters

especially now
