This was my take:
After sleeping on it, I am now less angry and critical of the Dems who voted yes.
Why?
Because they know the GOP is not going to vote to continue ACA benefits. Not now, not ever.
So they didn't give up anything they were maybe somehow going to get.

I'm mad about the shut down and worried about healthcare, but not letting people starve is a pretty good reason to cave on this bureaucratic fight, the more I think about it. So just say that: Republicans wanted you to starve rather than compromise, so we let this one go.

Mid-October, and it’s the first time we’ve been able to enjoy college football on the patio. And it’s still hot!

Look, it's bad enough that a local school district (in TX) is requiring libraries & teachers to pull TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD to ensure compliance with SB12, but it's even worse that the list of pulled books was generated by an *AI analysis* that seems to have flagged any book with any mention of race.

I think SW has already reconfigured this plane I’m on for assigned seating because I have a LOT more leg room in row 5 than I’m used to.

The dog hair situation was getting out of hand, and it’s been too long since we gave her medium coat her enough attention. I’ve now been over her coat multiple times with a slicker brush and a furminator and there’s still more fluff. Help!

I think Amber Alerts are really important but also recognize that their introduction created a situation where people receive alerts on their phones that are not actionable (I can't do anything about an Amber Alert when I'm in my home) and likely caused them to turn those alerts off.

I would love it if people who have no personal knowledge of or experience with Texas Hill Country geography, topography, and weather patterns would just shut the fuck up about whatever human failures they think were responsible for the deaths of children in a 500 year flash flood.

I’ve had a productive little Saturday. Long walk with the dog followed by a solid workout, lunch out with the kids, ran some errands, finally deep cleaned the shower, altered a dress for myself and for the teenager, and now we’re watching Guardians of the Galaxy. Keeping my mind and body busy.

Mr. D is visiting a friend for the weekend. I’ve scrubbed the shower (and pretty much convinced myself that we need to fire our cleaning service) and altered a dress I bought last summer and kept meaning to take to the tailor. I outsource a lot but maybe I don’t need to.

just saw a group of masked men stuffing masked ICE agents into an unmarked car, who were saying "we're ICE we're ICE!" but the abductors shouted to the crowd "no we're ICE!" no one knew who was ICE, so no one in the crowd said anything.

Fully one third of the seats on this flight will be empty but people are cramming themselves into middle seats at the front of the plane like that’s going to get them off the plane faster.

Our toaster oven makes a loud double beep when you plug it in. Last night, we had big storms come through and our power was off and on 5 or 6 times over a 3 hour stretch in the wee hours. How do I know how many times the power came back on? Because every time, the toaster oven BEEP BEEPed.

We need a new bed, since our 8-year-old memory foam mattress now has divots and we are both waking up stiff and achy. So we splashed out today at the pre-Memorial Day sales; we even got the adjustable bed frame. I am so excited for better sleep! Too bad we have to wait 2 weeks for delivery. 😭
