Shabbat shalom! Absolutely ready to say goodbye to this week between everyone circling back and the ratcheting up of US fascism. I will be reading and napping with my dogs if you need me.

Seeking help on getting Gemini out of my Google workspace (especially Drive). Smart features are turned off and I've also deselected Opal and Gemini. Why am I still getting force fed Gemini in my Google Drive?

Remember personal pan pizza tracker cards? Made resolutions this year based on that inspiration! We also tied two big accomplishments we want to complete in 2026 around bottles of bubbly that we will open once we achieve those!

Niche thing from my dissertation: a big downside to subscription or privatized models of bike programs (aside from price point) is the lack of flexibility for resident needs. Ex: Seoul (which operates bikes as a public good) was able to design smaller bikes for youth, women, and elderly folks

Shabbat shalom! The last Shabbat of 2025 has arrived. We spent this week celebrating the marriage of our friends Caroline and Liam as well as making a ton of holiday treats and snuggling the pups. Looking forward to 2026 and the new adventures ahead!

Made a million cookies for neighbors and ordered Chinese food. Overall good holiday!

Happy Night 4 of Chanukah! Clockwise from top left: pickle latke, applesauce latke, sour cream latke, smoked salmon and dill latke, poutine latke, and buffalo latke with blue cheese #poliscicooks

Also FWIW, Jourdan and I have spent two years trying to tell folks that the work of "AI detection" is incredibly flawed and biased against folks who are disabled and English learners.

So Daniel remembered Chanukah candles but forgot to bring a Chanukiah with him from Ottawa. We improvised by building a LEGO Chanukiah and creating a makeshift one with Trader Joe’s seasoning. Happy night 1, everyone!

Shabbat shalom! It’s the last Shabbat in Copenhagen for the year! It’s been truly phenomenal to have this postdoc experience and live here. I’m also excited to that classes finished this week and now I can go home to Canada for a little bit and see my dogs.

LEGO pieces came in today so we were able to put together our menorah!

Shabbat shalom! This was very likely the worst week of 2025. It started with our dogs basically getting abandoned by the new sitters we hired (and having to scramble to find new folks- shout out to Siobhan + her mom) and

Happy Spotify Wrapped Day! Spotify just roasted me this year (Four Seasons was on repeat to finish the diss).

So the bad news is that Daniel forgot to bring the Chanukiah I asked for him to bring. The good news is that I get to order the Lego set I wanted to order now. (Yellow Chanukiah was the original design; teal Chanukiah is my design)

I am also on this list and came to BlueSky to complain about it 😆- amazing that a bunch of PhDs can’t read this paragraph where it makes it incredibly clear why folks are on the list, how they got the info, and how to remove themselves

Shabbat shalom and happy 4th anniversary of being married to @chavezye.bsky.social ! Sad to not spend it together but we will get to spend some time together soon. Also grateful for an amazing week at the C40 Mayors Summit in Rio. Amazing connections and insights for our project.

I am genuinely confused (and potentially concerned) as to why ISA is sending out different messaging and framing to different segments of ISA membership about traveling to the 2026 conference. These are screenshots from three different scholars I know of the "same" email we received today from ISA.

Hanging out at The Kings Garden today and there is another statute of taking something out of Khaleesi’s mouth after she’s snatched up a treat on the ground post garbage day

Shabbat shalom! I had a great last two weeks traveling back to Canada and the US for some guest talks and to see my dogs (and Dan). This week was bookended by lost luggage (again) and having a little health flare up (again). Thankfully, not anything some soup, liquids, and rest couldn’t mostly fix.

I'm thrilled to announce that @isa-canada.bsky.social will have TWO workshops at @cpsa-acsp.bsky.social this year! A dissertation workshop (open to all in the AM and with an invite-only track for feedback in the afternoon) and a workshop on teaching IR in the age of generative AI. More info in 🧵
