For Kid Bubblegum, I used what I learned in this course by @chrisdeleon.bsky.social. And it helped a LOT. Highly recommend it to anyone trying to finish a project without knowing exactly when and how it'll be happening.

it's more a learning/practice community than for industry (all freeware), but we strive to make it more affordable for people wanting to make games who degree programs may not suit

we also have no-cost openings for people in situations where the dues would be a stretch
www.patreon.com/devpods/about
btw if you or someone you know is a beginner/intermediate gamedev having trouble finding friendly teammates we connect people in a flexible process to finish long-term projects together, freeware jam vibes but 2-6 month schedules. no genAI art etc, the whole purpose is for people to learn and collab

You keep ownership of what you do in DevPods.gg free games we make together. Experienced people wouldn't chip in if someone else could resell their work! If you're looking for zero budget projects just for fun, portfolio and learning that's what we're doing in Dev Pods #gamedev #godot #unreal #unity

today was the last episode of my game developer podcast I ran for 10 years hometeamgamedev.com/podcast guests from a mix of experience levels, skills, company sizes, chatting about their career story and tips for new people

quoted post helped me notice it ran for half the time podcasts have existed

My experience of it is that it's very much like an activities club from secondary/high school or University - so it's very much you get out what you put in. Don't expect to be told what to do, but do expect helpful structure and support!

before I taught this stuff for university I dumped online what I was going to teach, since it's my original material and I wanted to establish I own my approach 😂 anyway here's a 5 hour self-paced rapid prototyping course from my professional background doing it. quoted post is some fun history bits

HomeTeam works somewhat like a global game jam albeit with much more adult-friendly timelines and clearly organized teams, projects, and workloads where everyone contributes as much, and whenever they can - around whatever schedule they have to work with!

A question come up this morning from a member of HomeTeam GameDev, but it's one that I've seen recurring over the years from past student clubs and other people navigating this decision so I decided to share my thoughts as a public video.

There's no one-size-fits-all answer, but things to consider:
Procedural vs handmade levels for your game?
