There's no reason #YoungWizards can't go trick-or-treating. But the results may be unexpected... At #Ebooks Direct, as the Spooky Season gets going: NOT ON MY PATCH. ebooks.direct/products/not...
Background: A pumpkin that seems to have... unusual eyes. Foreground captioning: "Too much candy corn. Too many zombies. And Ultimate Evil with a pumpkin spice latte. ...Tag along on a Young Wizards Halloween. Now at Ebooks Direct."

No, it was because I’m typing in bed at nearly 0100h… a condition which makes typos all too likely. 😏

Routinely. Reoeatedly. I have been *incredibly* fortunate in my editors. All of whom seem to have believed that their job was to make me look like a better writer than I (usually) am… and all of whom *made it happen.* ❤️

repost this if an editor has ever saved you from yourself

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

The airport next to Maralago now says on the FAA National Airspace System status website that it is closed to weather modification aircraft.

Discworld QOTD, from The Wee Free Men
Tiffany was on the whole quite a truthful person, but it seemed to her that there were times when things didn’t divide easily into ‘true’ and ‘false’, but instead could be ‘things that people needed to know at the moment’ and ‘things that they didn’t need to know at the moment’.

This development in Leander, Texas, follows a letter to the ISD from @ncacensorship.bsky.social, NCTE, @txfreedomread.bsky.social, and more.

GREAT NEWS from Leander ISD. To Kill a Mockingbird, House on Mango St, and Narrative of Life of Frederick Douglass will be returned to classrooms after a massive outcry. Thanks to everyone who spoke up!!!

From an email to teachers today:
*An important update regarding the books that
were previously paused from curriculum use as a
result of concerns around Senate Bill 12.
Thirty-six of the forty books are being reinstated
to the secondary curriculum book list, with
revisions made to the curriculum to ensure TEKS
alignment and compliance with SB 12. Four
titles, Stamped, Melissa (George), Gracefully
Grayson, and The 57 Bus, will remain paused for
additional review of curriculum alignment. Please
note that all books, including these four, should
remain available, or be returned if removed, to
classroom libraries for individual student choice
reading.

STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS
-RING OF FIRE-

available in hardcover, eBook, and unabridged digital audiobook formats wherever new books are sold

SNW RING OF FIRE Cover Alt-Text for Bluesky

Book cover for STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS – RING OF FIRE by New York Times Bestselling Author David Mack.

Illustration has a purple-ish space starfield background; very prominent in the center is a black hole surrounded by a reddish-orange-yellow halo of gravitationally distorted light (the titular “ring of fire”). Ghosted and floating in front of this cosmic horror in a pyramid formation are Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush), lower left; first officer Lieutenant Commander Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn), middle left; Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), top center; science officer Lieutenant Spock (Ethan Peck), middle right; and security officer Lieutenant La'An Noonien-Singh, lower right, brandishing a phaser like the awesome badass she is. It’s a truly badass cover, thought it would have been nice if they’d made my name bigger, but whatever.

(grin) ABSOLUTELY. (One time after @peter.petermorwood.com pronounced it correctly, a local cabbie said to him, “Oh good! We don’t have to shoot you.” Fortunately we both knew the joke…) 😏

Scam alert: there's an IngramSpark impersonator at ingramsparkbookpublishers dot com. Part of a wave of publishing/ghostwriting scams from Pakistan that hijack authors looking to self-publish--they often "borrow" well-known publisher names but this one also "borrows" the real IngramSpark's logo
