Worth noting: Quote simply echoes US anti-ICC sanctions' statutory prerequisite. 1st step in 2025 & 2020 alike was presidential declaration whole institution (ICC)=threat to national security of US or its allies (see my post ⬇️). Should've been more attention to/pushback against that 1st time 'round.

Wrote this piece on the need to recognise gendered oppression - in all its forms - as always the path to #tyranny.

Gendered domination is alway present but failing to confront that = also failing to see the rapid return to patriarchy as the first sign of authoritarianism

Power, Gender and Tyranny in Our Time - Doing Feminist Legal Work
While writing my monograph On Tyranny and the Global Legal Order, the frequent appearance of gender struck me. But, more startling, how little remarked upon

how does one get in to delete pre-existing account without accepting new terms?
paulecohen.bsky.social
since I (like many others) will now be deleting my Academia dot edu account shortly, do folks have suggestions of alternative platforms for hosting publications?
rezekjoe.bsky.social
Academia dot edu licensing agreement says it can use your likeness and voice and publications in any manner they want, world wide.

1/ Was at the International Criminal Court #ICC for a midday session. Was there to see hearings in the oldest case on its docket. On the menu: old and updated criminal charges against Joseph #Kony. He once headed the terrorising Lord’s Resistance Army (#LRA) in #Uganda. Some thoughts in the thread 🧵

Happy 71st Birthday to Ruby Bridges, who at the age of 6 desegregated the New Orleans public schools.

She’s younger than 30 senators and our last two presidents—and only 7 years older than Barack Obama.

The past isn’t past.

JPS always said he opted for bowtie because he never learned to make a proper "four-in-hand" necktie knot. This lovely photo (source?) stands as corroboration.

Sometimes you just need something sweet to look at . . .

The adorable little boy with the grin on the left?

Why none other than (future Justice) John Paul Stevens, with his brothers Bill and Jim. ❤️

All the legal research / data sites are doing this now. They’re becoming almost unusable for users who want to keep their human brain matter intact. Time for some entrepreneur to start restocking vinyl, as it were.

No, Hein, my research is not going to get easier and I definitely do not want to “imagine” anything with your database polluted by AI Summaries which might tell me the legal factoid equivalent of gluing cheese on pizza or eating rocks. #legalresearch #yeetAIintothesun

Whether international law can help repair past harms is one of field's most difficult questions-doctrinally, technically, normatively. Answers may determine how you feel about IL as a whole. Over next month, @ajil.bsky.social will explore these Qs in print+online1/:

The parallels are stark: entire communities were forcibly removed from the West Coast in 1942 and today our immigrant brothers and sisters face the terror of ICE and CBP raids across the country. It was a miscarriage of justice then, and it is a miscarriage of justice now.
