The benefits of climate solutions—perhaps especially switching to clean energy—are many and profound. New research suggests we should redouble efforts to communicate those benefits. Sounds right to me.

Today is International #SafeAbortion Day.

Access to safe abortion protects the health of women and girls.

As with all other health services, women and girls should be able to access safe and respectful abortion care, when they need it, without fear of harm, punishment or recrimination.
Abortion is healthcare. Abortion should be regulated like other health services so that women and girls can access safe, timely and respectful care.

Mental health impacts of the climate crisis are rising.

There is a lot we can do - see www.who.int/publications....

But there are limits.

We also need a rapid shift to renewable energy - it’s cleaner, now cheaper, and maintains a liveable planet.

Famine was declared in parts of #Gaza two weeks ago.

And where hunger goes, disease follows.

We call on the Government of Israel to end this inhumane war. If it will not, I call on its allies to use their influence to stop it.

Those profiting from industries driving the climate crisis try to convince policy makers & public that (i)experts can’t agree, and (ii)policies addressing climate change are unpopular.

Neither is true.

There was a hint in 2024 that China's Carbon emissions had peaked due to their massive roll out of renewables, which continues. Now the data from the first half of 2025 confirms that CO2 emissions in China are decreasing. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨🌊🔋
CO2 emissions in China have decreased from a peak in March 2024 to June 2025. The reduction is due to the deployment of massive amounts of renewable capacity, particularly solar PV.

In 2009, the US EPA issued its finding that GHG Emissions endanger health in the USA.

As the current US Govt. proposes to review this finding - the US National Academies (I am a proud member), will issue a fast track report.

I am proud that DG Tedros testified for WHO - making the simple point that the court should take full account of the scientific evidence. They did - concluding that states are obliged to act on climate change to protect the right to life, and health.
