listened to Toonami Faithful's interview with Jason Demarco & he explained why #Toonami was in a cold period.

it’s harder than ever to license new anime from Japanese distributors because have way more rights to how their shows are being marketed...

Jason Demarco got interviewed by Toonami Faithful. Some interesting factoids:
- Lazarus was meant for HBO Max but was cancelled and rescued by AS
- Ninja Kamui was one of the most pirated shows in China last year
- Bleach came back due to persistence, was repeatedly told "no"

A French film swept Japan in the '50s — and its impact on Japanese animation was immense.

Among its fans were Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and their co-workers at Toei Doga. We explore how they saw it, why they loved it and what they learned:

Samurai Jack is a classic. And it's fueled by its rich images -- the backgrounds, animation and visual storytelling.

Genndy Tartakovsky was sick of dialogue. He wanted to take a risk on a visual series, and Cartoon Network supported it. We explore:

Not only does this article not "announce" anything that wasn't already public information, it borders on misinformation by claiming that Bullet/Bullet is the first original series from Park in a long time, when Ninja Kamui came out LAST YEAR.

@variety.com, do better.

Saw the PV for this and it looks amazing! Plus Sunghoo Park (Ninja Kamui, The God of High School, and Jujutsu Kaisen S1) is creating and directing this.

Had no clue Ninja Kamui was even nominated, but that's great news to hear. I hope this starts to combat the narrative around Toonami Originals, because clearly there's a major disconnect between the viewership and the AniTwitter/AniSky/YouTube Influencer-sphere regarding their reception.
somewhere out there the entire toonami podcast is either losing their minds in both the good and or worst ways @toonamifaithful.com podcast
