So one of the only countries giving Silksong mixed reviews is China and it seems to be primarily because of a weak localization (apparently it uses a lot of pretentious sounding Classical Chinese)

@beijingpalmer.bsky.social , any insight here?

HO

GIVE ME A HEE AND GIVE ME A HO

Live by the hee, die by the ho, this is my first Virtual Boy game and I fear that, Wario Land aside, it could be all downhill from here so I am stopping here

Come along with hee
And the butterflies and hos

That final conversation was just a sledgehammer to the feels. Felt very real.

Typical clueless Hollywood studio pushing for characters nobody cares about smh

No one's gonna care for a kiddie film spin-off, Sony, give us Oscar worthy content for adults like Morbius 2: The Morbing, Madame Web vs Kraven, and 10 seasons of the El Muerto streaming show.

You know, REAL CINEMA

This is the ending that was used in Spain for almost twenty years, before it was replaced by another one. It is still broadcast occasionally in reruns.

(yes, this is the best video I found in a quick search lol)

Pains me to say this for how much I loved the game, but Clair Obscur's ending is genuinely bad in a way that sabotages the game's previous strengths.

Not a matter of whether it's "sad", it's that its framing encourages players not to care about 80% of what preceded it...I ended up not caring at all

I just want Nintendo to do something this weird and bold with Zelda again one day
The commercial for The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask is one of the creepiest and most depressing ads Nintendo ever did.

And if you've played Majora's Mask... Yea, that checks out.

Lolsob that there are like 6 ports of SMT1 in Japanese but the only one in English was a discontinued IOS port

But hey, another trillion dollars to Hashino Persona remakes!
A 1993 ad from Japan for the PC Engine CD port of Shin Megami Tensei, an RPG from Atlus

In a post-apocalyptic Tokyo ravaged by demons and serving as the arena for two competing factions -- the Order of Messiah (for YHVH) and the Ring of Gaia (for Lucifer) -- you can decide who ultimately wins.

The more I think about it, the more I agree, A Hat In Time really is chibi-fied Doctor Who
I wanta cosplay hat kid SO bad, would probably go with this "adult Hat Kid" design from earlier versions of the game where she's even MORE just Doctor Who (seriously this is incredibly close to the 4th Doctor's design just with different coloring)

Following a recent discussion on Doctor Who's recent story decisions:

It's ok to enjoy slop. I've done it myself. Everyone does it sometimes.
Just don't try to pretend it's something better than it is, orlash out at the people who point it out. enjoyable =/= good

No offense to OP (I agree with some of the criticism) but posts like this and some comments there are the reason I really don't get as annoyed at Hashino for his complete lack of subtlety, cuz even when he has the characters spell everything out people still completely miss or misread his points

As much as I enjoyed TFA then, it's the original sin. As a reaction to (fair, to an extent) backlash to the prequels' often clumsy worlbuilding dialogue, TFA opted for having no worldbuilding at all that didn't reflect the conditions of the original trilogy(ie: big empire vs small rebels on the run)

Re:"turn based JRPGs are back" discourse
Sure they never left, but something worth pointing out is Western media discourse truly seems to have changed from the 2010s(www.resetera.com/threads/so-i...), and I think the turning point was 2017 (Honest Trailers said "even weebs had good games this year")
So in the PS3/360 era, what was up with the Anti-Japanese sentiment from the West? Was it borderline xenophobic/racist?
So the transition to the HD generation in the PS3/Xbox360 era hit hard many Japanese developers. But for the time, it was the generation where western devs truly shined more. But as a consequence of ...
