A little GIS, a little EnviroSci, a little Emergency Management, some Photography, and a lot of UCLA.
Have you seen the new voice guided Epi injectors?

It is a good joke! It's right up there with

"do you want any sides?"

"Yeah, right and left please!"

Or

"I'm feeling fancy tonight, how about top and bottom???"

There are many many more, but these are some of my favorites. There are others that I've read but I never wrote down my reviews or thoughts, and this was before goodreads so no ratings. So I'm reluctant to add them to this list, but I definitely need to re-read them and tag em at some point!

For fiction, there's a bunch of hot-rod pulp novels like Hatchet on the left, but one that I really loved was by Harris. I need to re-read that one since it's been so long.

Miller won the MOH and his book is still really high on my list of greats. Doherty and Flanagan wrote the two best books on being a FAC and working with SOG.

Valor & Plasters books gives you the background and both 100ft and 10,000 ft level view of whats going on, whereas Dynamite and Acres books are some of the best memoirs.

MACVSOG is one of those groups, like the LRRPs where pretty much everyone and their 2nd cousin has written a book... much like today's SEALs. When it comes to non-fiction there really are a lot of good and great books written by members of the units and the supporting cast, like Helo & SPUD...

I think that's the thing about Prairie Fire too, the ending just felt so rushed and like the author was just DONE writing, so he tried to make it the most emotionally impactful ending he could in just a few pages and ... it fell contrived and not part of the organic story from page 1.

It's totally a mood/vibe book. I liken it to Mitch Alboms writing. People freaking LOVE the Five People You Meet In Heaven, because it's that hallmark movie of the week kinda shmaltzy!

Whereas I always find that kind of thing to lack substance or worth, it's just manipulative drek lol.

But I had no idea about the rest of the story or that he wrote fiction, and had 0 idea about the connection to the million dollar man!

When I was a kid in the 80s, Bantam published a bunch of his books like the Ragged Rugged Warriors and Flying Forts that I would buy at the used book store for 50 cents. They were thick as hell and took up half my backpack when I went to camp.

I still have them!
