My proposals to talk about the Zine Thesaurus have been rejected at multiple conferences, so we're going to create a space for ourselves on the exhibit hall floor. If you're attending #ALAAC25, please join us! 📚
Sometimes tradition just doesn't cut it so Librarians have to make their own. 💫

If you're trying to create a cohesive cataloging system for your Zine Library stop by the Zine Pavilion booth on Monday the 30th at 10:00 am (EDT) to learn about the Zine Thesaurus!

archivists: we have no help maintaining the overwhelming pile of digital projects that were funded by one-time grants and have extensive recurring resource costs, this is a huge problem for literally every discipline

venture capitalists: would you like a sexy robot Amelia Bedelia that doesn't work
If tech people want to do something useful for historians, one problem that I actually have is that all the links to a less-than-10-year-old digitization project are fucking broken. Maybe get on the whole "making digital humanities last more than the time it takes to write a book" thing.

Patreon is raising the percentage it takes from new creators (again), from 8% to 10%, on August 4. People with existing Patreon pages get grandfathered into the old rate. If you're thinking about making a page, best to do it and publish it now.

is it time to bust out my "bigfoot is bears" photo collection again? if your mental image of a bear is a thick-furred, fat glossy male bear in autumn, you're probably not prepared for how weird their proportions can look in spring, or when walking upright, like they frequently do.

"After sharing the advanced messaging with county emergency personnel and social media pages, the Carter County emergency manager reported the number of people checked into a designated shelter in Van Buren rose from four to 125 well before the tornado arrived."

That part? That is extraordinary.

Sipping my coffee ☕️ thinking about these marvellous Minoan cups!

So modern-looking it’s incredible to think they were made by Bronze Age potters 3,800 years ago!

Known as Kamares Ware, these luxury ceramics were made in palace workshops. Heraklion Archaeological Museum 📷 by me
