Today I visited the Takeshima Aquarium in Gamagori, which specializes in deep sea animals. I saw giant isopods, spider crabs, deep sea octopus and all kinds of fascinating #invertebrates.

A solstice sunrise over Lake Winnipeg.
Looking out over a frozen snow covered lake about a half an hour into sunrise. The golden sun lights up the sky in a triangle just above the purple horizon before it disappears behind a bank of equally purple clouds. The snow gives everything kind of a marshmallow effect and tall grasses stand in the foreground to show where the land is.

The ancient Greek goddess Persephone, beloved daughter of Demeter was kidnapped by Hades god of the underworld, and taken to his home where she was tempted with many 🧵
This is my linocut of the Greek myth of Persephone holding an opened pomegranate. The block was inked 'à la poupée', with different colours applied directly to a single block. Persephone is deep indigo, with red pomegranate, lips and poppy and golden wheat.

For day 21 of #ArtAdventCalendar, a nail meme i painted on my nails! The original imagery for the meme is taken from Disney’s Fantasia, when the demon Chernabog is summoning ghosts and fire demons.
A close up of my thumb nail (unfortunately not as crisp as I’d like since I forgot to take a photo of it and had to screen grab this from a video!). The background is a gradient of dark to light blue nail polish with small silver holographic glitters. Over that is painted a black silhouette of the demon with his wings and arms raised above him, claws out. His eyes are glowing yellow slits, and I used blue cremes to highlight some of the muscles in his arms and wings. A close up shot of my other 4 fingers, showing a scene spread out across all 4: Chernabog with his sings now spread to the sides covering portions of my index, middle, and ring nail. His arms are thrust out before him as though he’s playing a particularly energetic piano piece, and his fingers are splayed, claws extended. Around him a pale blue mist lightens the deep blue background. A shot of my full hand with all 5 nails facing the camera. My middle finger has a silver knuckle ring that’s a daisy chain of human skulls. The meme that inspired the manicure: an image split in half.
