I deleted my account the day before Vance & Trump berated Zelenskyy. I decided to come back because the betrayal of Trump and his sycophants must be met by fierce opposition from every American.

"We have no king," Illinois says, updating the court on all the authoritarian things Trump has said since Monday.

storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Since Plaintiffs’ Monday morning filings and the Court’s initial hearing that afternoon, the
Trump administration has continued its purposeful defiance of the lawful bounds of its power to
create a federal military occupation of Illinois.1
Indeed, in the past few days, the President has
repeated his disdain for any guardrails on those powers. A few hours after the Monday hearing in this case, Trump issued an after-the-fact memorandum invoking 10 U.S.C. § 12406 to federalize
National Guard troops that Secretary Hegseth had already deployed into Illinois. That same day,
Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller asserted the authoritarian view that the President
has “plenary authority”—sweeping and unlimited power—to federalize National Guard troops and
dispatch them to American cities like Chicago. The next day, Trump told press in the Oval Office
that he might just invoke the Insurrection Act to “get around” judicial orders blocking his unlawful
troop deployments, like the one last weekend in Oregon. Then just yesterday, Trump himself
posted on social media that the Governor of Illinois and Mayor of Chicago should be jailed.
These were not empty threats. They were made even as defendants dispatched a third state’s
National Guard to Illinois in federalized status, this time from California, and without any new
deployment order specific to Illinois. This lawless targeting by the President and his administration
of people and places he does not favor will not stop without court intervention.

The Court can and should stop this authoritarian march. We remain a nation of laws, we
have no king, and the President has no such “plenary authority” to federalize National Guard troops
and deploy them into the streets of Illinois. The Court should enter a preliminary injunction against
defendants’ federalization and deployment of any state’s National Guard, or deployment of U.S.
military, into Illinois over the objection of its Governor.

Some states filed a brief in support of Trump sending the National Guard into Illinois to support enforcement of immigration law

So, these same states will not oppose a US President from the Democratic Party who decides different federal laws require the NG from say, NY, sent to their state, right?
juliedicaro.bsky.social
This is getting wild.

The states of Iowa, Montana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and 14 others have just asked for permission to file THEIR amicus brief in IL v. Trump.
The States of Iowa, Montana, Oklahoma, South Carolina and 14 additional States
respectfully move for leave to submit the attached amicus curiae brief in support of Defendants
and their opposition to Plaintiffs’ requested temporary restraining order and preliminary
injunction. Proposed amici are States with a vested interest in federalism, the relationship between
States and the federal government, and deploying the National Guard. We also each have a vital
interest in supporting the President and Congress in enacting and enforcing valid immigration
laws. Every State has a responsibility to protect our citizens.
The federalization of States’ National Guard units is a matter of profound public
importance, as it directly implicates the delicate balance of power between state and federal
governments—a true cornerstone of Federalism. States generally maintain authority over their
National Guard units, allowing governors to deploy them for state-specific needs, such as disaster
response or public safety. Federalization of state National Guard units without gubernatorial

This is Andrey Syrotyuk, commander of the 121st Regiment of the 68th Motorized Rifle Division of the 6th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Federation.

No legal consequences. That was just a brief detention after which he was released when he informed the officers he is a US citizen. Or, are you saying Kavanaugh and the majority of SCOTUS were wrong????

<sarcasm off>

Yes, legal consequences but I won't be shocked when they get immunity by a judge

Does the President think his communications to his staff don't need to be retained by the govt for the people? Is he using Truth Social DMs to skirt US law? Is anyone asking about this?

If this deal holds, if it goes beyond the 1st phrase, if all of the hostages on both side are released, if Israel withdraws its troops & doesn't resume bombing, if aid gets in, then I'll give Trump credit.

But I count 5 "ifs" above. Let's see. Trump always tends to disappoint.

Back in federal judge Sara Ellis' courtroom in Chicago for a second day of discussion on a proposed restraining order to rein in federal immigration agents' violent behavior.

Debate began on this issue on Monday, and ended without the court entering a formal order.

@unraveledpress.com & other press have been threatened, shot with less-lethals and arrested while reporting on federal immigration activities in Chicagoland and on the resulting protests at Broadview.

I'm now at a hearing asking the federal court to rein ICE & co in. I'll let you know how it goes.

Ellis getting into her concerns over plainclothes agents.

She says she's willing to give some leeway to "undercover" officers, but says other agents, including those doing crowd control at protests, need to have ID that "identifies them numerically and by agency."

The most frustrating thing about this war is that the US could step in forcefully now with harsh sanctions against Russia and a large military package for Ukraine with ranged weapons as the centrepiece, and the war would end soon with a Russian defeat.

Not normal at all

Then we have Stephen Miller saying the President had plenary authority

Folks, we don't live under a king or a dictator who can take any action he or she desires without limitation

Let me add, what @atticus59914029.bsky.social does in 👇🏻🧵 is what we all need to be doing: call out the grotesque language, hold every person, and particularly professing Christians, to the dignity and worth of every human being, speak in a better way for everyone's sake

The "Department of Homeland Security" which is living up to its Orwellian name has posted a video on Facebook of agents arresting (alleged) illegal aliens and titled the video "Bag it. Tag it. Take it down."

This is grotesque. Even assuming every person in the video committed some criminal act,
dkcullum87.bsky.social
Given the dehumanizing language within our current cultural discourse, I think that there is real danger of seeing others, whether political or ethnically different, as less than human, or just inferior. We have seen it in US history and the current language stokes those flames

Lord, have mercy

Inside were her crib notes for attacking the senators.

In other words, under oath Bondi was purely a performance.

I still go back to why Chinese leaders sent in military from another province to Tianamen Square. The local military would not attack their own people, while military from another province didn't see Beijing residents the same way and willing slaughtered them.

From Bondi's answers today, it seems to me she knows what's in the Epstein files. She intentionally put warning shots across the bow of Democratic Senators to weaken them, intimidate them, and box in Republican Senators in their support of Trump & his agenda. She isn't as good as Trump at it, though

Nope. I don't subscribe to that.
