VERY IMPORTANT to label this as what it is, The Police State Executive Order. it's not an exaggeration. This is the inner wiring of a police state.
The first and most important thing to know about last night's Exec order is that it's intended to break current law and allow people throughout the federal gov look at yr tax returns. Beyond that it's intended to compel states to turn over all their data to the fed govt.

I tend to be paranoid and suspicious. But this scares the shit out of me.
We have another case here of US Marshals assisting DOGErs in making forcible entry into a govt chartered independent agency to which it has not clear right to enter. The key point here is that there’s no court order for the Marshals to enforce. So here’s my question. Did the Times confirm that …

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.

Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes.

Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

The amount of anger I see in our blue bubble is the most intense I have seen in a very long time. I get the sense that unless these technocrats step out of the way the party will split apart. But I see this fissure as something larger than this particular action by Schumer.

It’s blind for sure 1/

Beyond mad with this. The democrats aren’t even trying. They convinced themselves closing the government is worse than what is going on or that a shutdown is what Musk wants.

But Musk is already shutting the government. And Dems are just handing them the keys with no fight. Disgusting.
I have to say: Chuck Schumer is a weak man and a fool. This was the one cudgel Dems had. Now it's up to the courts which we new from the beginning were at best going to slow some things down. There's 18 hours left to somehow bring additional pressure to bear. It will be really hard to do that.

good to watch. but there's one part in here that most will probably overlook. stability, the constitution and the rule of law are magnets for capital. an elemental observation that's at the root of basically every study of economics and capitalism.
A top economics reporter goes off script on national TV: “I am going to say this at risk of my job, but what President Trump is doing is insane.”
March 12, 2025 at 3:39 AM
Uhhh…I was expecting this but so soon?
“Illegal” doing a lot of heavy lifting here as Trump matches towards being a dictator. Trump can’t be allowed to define it contrary to the 1st Amendment & rules regarding private property. But beyond that, it should provoke an uproar. Peace protest is an American value.

Like a lost boy in a suit that is too big for him.
As of today, a new term has entered our language. A “rubio” is a spineless lump of nothing. Example: Don’t be such a rubio.

An experiment. I found a filter for ILFORD SFX 200 in an editing I don’t use anymore. This is an attempt to re create that look in #lightroom. I love how it lightens greens. This is summer at #winterdalearch. #centralpark #cpb #photography

“They” Say NYC is a crime ridden hell hole. I say I wish the tourists would stop flocking to the city. But look at this beautiful chaos.

This is the entrance at w72 near the Imagine Circle.

I’m seeing how this gets framed in politics. On @thebulwark.bsky.social podcast a similar theme came up. Both abortion and trans issues are about outside control of your body. These are decisions they should be made by you and your doctor and not imposed on someone.
Opinion | What Democrats Are Getting Wrong About Transgender Rights
Trans rights aren’t just trans rights. They’re reproductive rights.

I think a lot of US election commentary effectively Red Waved itself--basing analysis on immediate outcome rather than a review of Trump's 1.6% margin and failure to break 50%.
Nothing at the moment is driving me quite as nuts as the folks who are earnestly preaching how Dems must reignite themselves because of their election “disaster.” On what planet? Trump edged out a candidate who had only 15 weeks to campaign and who was running against a global anti incumbent trend.

This is what I’ve been talking about, trying to be thoughtful about when to be outraged. It’s going to be a very long and very dark four years. Sometimes letting republicans fight with each other is going to be the only way.
