Democrats must individually respond every time a social media user irritates a self-identified centrist, recognizing that random posters with a handful of followers are far more important than controversial concepts such as policy and top-down messaging.
And Democrats must cancel the gender language police, recognizing when someone’s heart is in the right place, not insisting on using new and controversial terms that are in flux.

I realize that arguing with strangers on the internet is a thankless pursuit…. but Owen206 ur driving me nuts!!!!!

Okay going to clarify even though no one actually cares what I say.

I do believe that everyone should be thoughtful about where they are sending their money, and one should certainly consider the risks they are incurring when sending money internationally, especially to someone you have not met.
Seeing a persistent pattern

Big account accuses you of committing crime.

their followers fill in the details with varying levels of accuracy. Most determine that even IF what you’re advocating is legal, the trump admin will inevitably treat it as criminal conduct anyway, so no one should do it.

You’re welcome. I am always happy to give 100% serious legal advice speaking in my capacity as a fake clown.
Thanks I always take legal advice from people who offer legal advice to strangers on the internet
Legal advice from Bozo the clown:

pick a country you think donald trump probably dislikes. Cease all financial contact with that country in compliance with the sanctions you anticipate *might* be implemented.

TERFs are like “trans is fake, it’s sex is very simple” and then turn around and tell you that you need a DNA test to be sure.

@definewoman.bsky.social hey love your account and your username!!! Thx for standing up for feminism. How do you define the term “woman”?
May 28, 2025 at 4:52 PM
ok ok i see. this isn’t actually a conversation about film and politics. It’s just an opportunity to show off how much we know about random movies. Got it!
No, Apocalypse Now is certainly political to an extent, it's just very muddled. The politics are a mess and not really what the film is about. (The entire film is a huge mess, really - famously so)

I am really starting to conclude that this guy is not smart!!!
I agree with your definition of Trumpism here, for the record. The reason it's worth debating the oligarchy thing is that it can be a dodge, a way for people to avoid the uncomfortable fact that Trump's power comes from mass popular support built through demagoguery, not a front for corporate power.
April 25, 2025 at 4:46 PM
Ah yes…. famously Oligarchs amass wealth by performing well in a free market system with traditional economic growth.

My American Dream is to perform well enough in the private sector to someday enter the oligarchic class. No corruption necessary, just sweet sweet capital gains.
None of this stuff really helps corporate power. Most of it is actually extremely detrimental to the interests of anyone who benefits from economic growth.

excluding the DOGE/Elon shitshow from this list is kind of a tell!! He’s selling citizenship gold cards! He’s enriching his cronies by exempting their businesses from tariffs!

This is so obviously what happens when an oligarchic system consolidates power and capital.
The other thing about "oligarchy" framing is you can't explain any of Trump's worst abuses with it. Why is he demonizing immigrants? Nuking civil rights? Shredding the DOJ to attack his enemies? Pursuing autarky with tariffs? Blackmailing companies and universities? Destroying science investment?

If you spend these days convincing yourself what is plainly happening in the US right now isn't happening, can't be happening, or won't get worse, you will not be in position to understand how we got here, how to fight, and how to build after we win. Such people cannot be in charge of the Dem party

just speculation but my take on the Paul, Weiss stuff is that the firm thinks it's making meaningless commitments or ones that it can control through the way they're implemented, but totally misjudged the meaning of a public capitulation

Idk it might not be the trade policies, and instead the stories abt legal residents and people flying into US airports randomly being kidnapped by the government?
International travelers concerned about President Donald Trump’s trade policies and bellicose rhetoric have been canceling trips to the United States, depriving the U.S. tourism industry of billions of dollars at a time when the economy has started to appear wobbly.
Nervous about Trump, international tourists scrap their U.S. travel plans
International tourists are canceling plans to visit the United States, with Canadians leading the way.

actually insane that MITT ROMNEY rage quit the senate because he saw that his Republican colleagues were immovably full of shit.

Meanwhile Schumer is like “nobody could lie to me while they’re on a stationary bike…..”
A lot of delusion happening in that Schumer NYT interview, but this gets to the heart of it: he believes his Republican colleagues will come around and everything will be ok. Absolutely delusional.

it’s really critical to not accept this interpretation as “correct” even if the Court adopts it. it’s wrong. racist and wrong.

Heller doesn’t mean the 2nd amendment is an individual right. it’s wrongly decided (and people insist it says things it doesn’t say). this would be the same.
The Wurman/Barnett op/ed is the next step in normalizing the frivilous birthright citizenship argument. In a few months, conservatives will contend that the only reason liberals didn't take the argument seriously is because of their blindspots. By then, judges will feel comfortable endorsing it.
This is how the non-originalist Commerce Clause argument against Obamacare based on the activity/inactivity distinction, invented from whole cloth, started. It won before SCOTUS. This will give judges and Justices cover to adopt the absurd Trump administration view of birthright citizenship.

Mangione could’ve become a clown. He could’ve brought laughter to ppl screwed over by the insurance and medical industry. Instead he chose violence. Murder. That’s not justice. We seek redress through pie-ings and pray falls. I have absolutely no sympathy for him.
