I spoke to a Venezuelan woman who was arrested in this raid and later released with her 4yo son. She said agents broke down their door, pointed guns at them and made sexualized remarks about Venezuelan women. When she returned to her apartment it was boarded up and all her possessions were gone.

It’s disturbing to me, when I say to otherwise kind, intelligent, aware people, “wow, bad shit is happening”, and they reply to me, “Oh you have to not watch the news. Don’t read the papers! Just don’t think about it.”

And NO that is a TERRIBLE answer. That’s exactly how we got here to begin with.

There are multiple forms of fascism/fascist countries, and probably some that have not happened yet. The menu is bigger than two choices. It still shouldn't be complicated, but studying civics, public policy, democracy and elections/voters tells me it is. This has happened over decades, not years.

Cata “Xochitl” is a DACA recipient and community organizer who immigration agents abducted at the airport.

She remains in detention despite an immigration judge terminating her case. Since her unjust detention, DHS has falsely claimed that DACA doesn’t protect Cata from detention and deportation.
