How do they get away with this stuff? They’re either purposefully misleading, or just blatantly ignorant to the facts. Family reunification accounts for less than 1% of inward migration to Ireland. It just means a traumatised person gets to be with their spouse or child while they restart their life

Let's go further. Every medium sized British town should have a Roger's Child Porn Warehouse, packed to the rafters with CSAM made and sold by Roger himself. Then we can arrest anyone who buys it, let Roger keep the money and the porn, and hand him a knighthood for his services to policing.
Alex Norris explaining that the govt is passing legislation that means if someone asks Grok to produce an image of a woman in a bikini they will be committing a criminal offence. Whereas when it comes to taking action against X, we're told thats a matter for Ofcom not the govt.

Seems to me that it used to be that *creating non-consensual intimate images of women and children* would be the sort of thing that Conservatives might publicly be against.

But what a world we inhabit.

So yes, my instinct here was right.

It appears that only the most public “@grok” prompts are being stopped.

No, Grok hasn’t paywalled its deepfake image feature
X’s sexual deepfake machine is still running, despite Grok saying otherwise.

One reason I feel like I'm going mad is, even if Musk did immediately halt Grok and issue a grovelling apology - rather than PAYWALLING IT - he should *still* be prosecuted and his website banned. Very obviously! You don't get out of CSAM charges by just stopping. AND HE STILL HASN'T STOPPED.

It’s illegal if done by a paedophile priest or done by a company.

In fact, that same 1998 law specifically addressed how to hold workers of any company that committed these crimes liable.

A “Director, officer, secretary”?

Liable to criminal prosecution.

My word.

The Taoiseach, in China, says "platforms can be misused and abused or they can be used for positive reasons as well..." and says that should be considered carefully "before jumping to conclusions" on whether it's appropriate for the Government to be on X.

If there was a child porn factory down the road, it’d be closed immediately.

The Govt’s response wouldn’t be “hang on, they let us print flyers there too”.

The only logical conclusion from this now is that the Government here, and governments around Europe, are absolutely terrified of being dragged into another battle with the richest man in the world who is hellbent on their removal; or with his ally in the White House over regulation.

It would basically come at close to zero cost for outlets like Bloomberg to delete their X accounts, and "We don't want to use a non-consensual deepfake abuse app as a comms platform" is a fine excuse

Not criticising Malcolm Byrne in this but multiple legal experts, the Tánaiste and others have already said what’s happening is illegal.

This could easily go down the road of the “we have to do something new” response tactic which actually delays doing anything altogether - or completely derails it

Here’s a riddle for you: if two wrongs don’t make a right, but three lefts do make a right, how many U-turns make you spiral out of control?
