Hello, World! (A.k.a. Bluesky). I've been a professional developer since 2009 but built my first site in 1996. I'm a WordPress developer and certified accessibility specialist currently working in a couple of contract roles while also freelancing. My posts are [mostly] tech and a bit of sarcasm.
Accessibility isn’t about just slapping some JavaScript on it for a fix. That seems to be the go-to for some developers. Always start first with native HTML. #a11y

My best advice for becoming a digital accessibility specialist is to make it your job, regardless of your title.

Making a presentation? Putting together a design? Building something in code?

In anything you do, be curious about what it takes to make it more accessible

Oxygen for WordPress caught my attention recently after I discovered an agency I used to work for is using it now on client sites. Curious how it stacks up to something like KadenceWP, which I’m a big fan of myself.

Question for my #a11y followers: Is there a way to accurately test color contrast for text and background when there’s a vertical gradient between an image and the text on top of it? This is the first time I’ve ever had to test this specific situation.

Gah. Now my MacBook has the gross liquid glass theme too. There's icons... EVERYWHERE!

I cannot believe this has been rubber stamped with the Apple brand. It's like they've forgotten everything they know about design and just let an intern go wild in Figma. Awful.

The “tinted” Liquid Glass setting in iOS 26.1 doesn’t appear to get applied consistently to elements. It looks like it works in some places but not others.

Using DoorDash for the first time today. I feel like I’m really behind the times on things like this sometimes. I’ll readily admit that I’ve only ever used Uber once, too.

All UPS delivery estimates should just be “at some time on one of these days hopefully”.

Defaults matter. Remember that people tend to internalize bad UI as their own personal failing, and that people also may not identify as disabled. Combined this means they'll feel bad using inaccessible experiences and not think to check how to fix the problem. www.theverge.com/news/802963/...
Apple adds a new toggle to make Liquid Glass less glassy
Make things more opaque with a new Tinted option.

The new iPadOS 26 makes me glad that I’m really picky about my responsive layouts now that you can easily drag a corner to resize browser windows.

Yup I blogged it!

Calling it a "starter" instead of a "reset" as it's not massively about stripping away styles.

I quite like it and I'm extra interested in thoughts/critique.

Yes, I’m jumping into Josh’s new course this weekend. The examples and his teaching style drew me in, and I didn’t want to miss out on the early pricing either.
We’re live!! My brand-new course, “Whimsical Animations”, is now available. 🥳🎉

Anyone FE-oriented, UX heavy (like we use react but it's not that complex, we'd rather you "know" react a bit and be really good at UI/UX) out there looking for a job?

FT, US-based preferred but there could be options for intl contract

It's fully remote and nice people, I can DM/signal w/deets

My son’s band is releasing their first single on 10/1, and I’m so stoked. I’ve been playing the final mix of the track on repeat since he sent it to me a few days ago. So good.
