They love this “run the government like a business” canard coz it conjures images of efficiency and accountability.
The reality is, it’s about increasing profits for the few over the wellbeing of the many.
If the government operated the way a business does, the citizenry should rightfully revolt.

If you're not well versed on Section 230, it's a law that protects owners of online platforms from being sued for content that their user's post (or removing said content). Without it, every platform just gets sued into the ground by nuisance lawsuits. Anyone wanting to repeal that isn't very smart.

You should know that a big part of 18F's work was to make sure multi-million to multi-*hundreds*-of-millions dollar contracts at fed *and* state level didn't go to shitty enterprise IT consultancies that *repeatedly* delivered tech that didn't work, was late, or didn't even do what it needed to
