It happened with Tumblr, it happened with Gumroad. it happened with Steam, and now it's happening with itchio.
Unless you can afford to run your own fully independent website, you need to keep everything backed up.

These itchio news suck ass.
Companies and purists suck the life and passion out of anything, not even out of profit either it really is just out of cowardice and paranoia.

I've just set my revenue share to zero and emailed Itchio explaining that it'll stay there till they reverse this.

I bet if we all did they'd start paying attention.
Itchio info from my discord of what we know so far

The plan was always to flood the zone with shit.

Not everyone can respond to every outrage. That's on purpose. But no need to get mad at someone for focusing on stuff *you* don't think is important. Let everyone focus on what they want to focus on.

People are grieving the loss of real community on TikTok but it is empty headed behavior to pretend it is some slayer of fascism? *You* are what was good about it, not the fucking app! It is truly insane to me that some of you are hyping up the CEO's little thank you Trump video???? What the fuck???

Discomfort is not harm. Internalize that.

Discomfort is not harm, and if you're made uncomfortable by the work of a total stranger who does not know you exist, you can just process on your own and move on. You do not need to make it anyone's "fault" and no one needs to be "held accountable" for it.
If you dislike something or it makes you uncomfortable, that’s okay! But you don’t need to let the creator know. You don’t need to let anyone know, honestly. You can just ignore it and move on with your life. Fandom is about enjoying the things you like, not bashing the things you hate.
I woke up in the night thinking about this & will forget if I don't wing it into the universe right now, so...

what are some etiquette tips you'd give to someone new to fandom spaces?
