My confederate neighbor told me the submarine keeps drowning his sailors so I asked how many sailors he has and he said he just goes to the navy and gets new sailors afterwards so I said it sounds like he’s just feeding sailors to the ocean and then his commanding officer started crying
“The confederacy sent into action the world’s first combat submarine, the CSS Huntley, which sank three times in trials, drowning the crew each time (including its inventor Horace Huntley) before sink a blockade ship near Charleston in 1864 while going down itself for the fourth and last time”

What did the person acquiring the rights to the conditional 2nd/3rd give up? Just seems odd to have the subject of the condition to not be part of the trade. Was it something like another Patriots WR where their performances can affect each other?

SCOOP — Pennsylvania prosecutors were alerted to possible voting irregularities by one of MAGA's leading voices against voter fraud. A long paper trail shows Jack Posobiec has been living in Maryland but voting using his parents' PA address for years.

From @jsweetli.bsky.social, @slate.com + me:
MAGA’s “Voter Fraud” Watchdog Votes in a Swing State. He Doesn’t Live There.
A long paper trail shows that Jack Posobiec casts a ballot in one state and lives in another.

If the Dem is doing well in the polling it'll start ahead of the election, some how making it their problem. GOP is by default "better for the economy" (eg corporate taxes), so we can't afford to elect a Dem when the economy is rocky, who would just make it worse. See Zohran in NYC and crime stories

Flacco is 410 yards away from taking #15 overall career passing yards from Russell Wilson, who is less than 100 yards from passing Fran Tarkenton at #14, and both may never start a game again.

Missing 3/5 of the projected starters on the OL when camp opened, with the two remaining being guys they kept flip flopping between LG and C to see if maybe that made them better.

today in news that makes me say 'wait I have something for this'

specifically p. 203-207 of The Originalism Trap, where I discuss jury nullification

www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/735353...
Screenshotted excerpt of The Originalism Trap with the following text highlighted in blue:

“Jury nullification” is a term typically used to describe the power of juries to declare someone accused of a crime “not guilty,” even if the evidence suggests they broke the law. It has also occasionally been used to describe jurors refusing to impose the death penalty, even if the convicted person met the legal requirements for execution, and choosing the sentence of life imprisonment instead. Jurors might nullify for various reasons, such as a belief that the person’s conduct shouldn’t be a crime to begin with or that the sentence is otherwise unconscionable— such as the death penalty Screenshotted excerpt of The Originalism Trap with the following text highlighted in blue:

The legal system is generally tight-lipped about the practice [...] But none of that erases the fact that jurors can always prevent a conviction by choosing to say “not guilty.” Juries’ power to refuse to convict is especially important in this political moment marked by rampant criminalization and repression of dissent and other freedoms.

Gutted at the news that Kaleb Horton is gone. Kaleb was a brilliant writer, of course, but he was also a gifted photographer. Years ago I encouraged him to sell his pieces. His work was so good, I told him, and people should see it.

Here are some of his beautiful shots.

the political policy cure for “male loneliness” is

- more time to hang with the fellas (4 day work week)

- more money to spend with the fellas (higher wages)

- more things to do with the fellas (taxing the rich and building 3rd spaces)

Is Roquan's decline purely on him, or any of it on Orr and what's being asked of him? I'm thinking of Derwin James having some down years under Staley because he was having him try to do too much.

i have to say, as a trans journalist who has covered the "trans debate" for about a decade now, there is no daylight between how the trump administration and conservatives lie about tylenol and autism and how they've lied about youth trans care.

Emeka Egbuka, who was banged up entering Week 3, played just 64% of Tampa Bay's snaps against the Jets. After route participation rates of 97% and 98% in Weeks 1 and 2, he was at 66% in Week 3. He still had his highest target share of the season (28.6%).

How many years in and yet now "it's getting sloppy?" Now we have to do something about the limitations of the refs, yet they made taunting where it's to the ref's discretion if a gesture was in a particular direction? They can't spot the ball here but can determine where forward progress stops?
