Things were better when computer was in room. Now everywhere is computer. This is bad. Computer should never have escaped room.

Pappapisshu indeed.

Baby Steps' Manbreaker is a challenge that you might be better off not doing. But I did. aftermath.site/baby-steps-man...
Nate in Baby Steps, he's climbing a rocky, evil path. There's a green spiral staircase in the distance, modeled (I believe) after a real one in China. Nate wears a hardhat.

Lots of welcome QoL stuff in the remaster, and it has some of Squeneix's least fugly remake fonts, but the upscaled graphics are a strict downgrade IMO.

swipe for ways to show your solidarity Why We're Striking
A codified 4-day work week.
We simply want to protect the way we've been working for over 3.5 years. The 4dww has proven benefits, such as increased productivity and improved employee satisfaction. It's part of what makes Kickstarter a special, innovative place to work.
Fair pay for our lowest-paid workers.
We're fighting for livable minimum salaries for roles that are undervalued by the market but crucial to keeping Kickstarter running. We believe none of our workers should struggle to make ends meet. Creators

I missed this when it came out, but @ftb1979.bsky.social made an amazing deep dive video into the Takeru Vending Machines:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1_J...

These were ATM-like machines that would download & record games on disk in the 1980s/1990s. Really interesting piece of history!

Wake up, @swamphearted.bsky.social, new heresy just dropped.

lot to unpack here
Paula White-Cain took a somewhat different position when defending the Trump administration’s border separation policy and detention of immigrants. According to her, it’s true that Jesus was a refugee because he lived in Egypt for three and a half years. “But it was not illegal,” she insists. “If he had broken the law, then he would have been sinful and he would not have been our Messiah.

Bonus Puzzle #10 - DESIGNER'S NOTEBOOK

... which is actually not a puzzle, but a set of 12 new puzzles, most of which require you to design a production line able to build one of two different products using conditional inputs and commands. It's challenging!

This week’s episode is Noem v. Vasquez Perdomo, where the Court allowed ICE to do a little bit of racial discrimination as a treat.

Lots of people still genuinely struggling with this, and/or pretending to struggle with it.

“awful people don’t deserve to be killed, but they don’t deserve to be praised, either” is apparently a thought too complex for the pundit mind

I *think* I was the one who put it over the top. Great cause!

*OK, definitely not all, because the DuJour songs are bad-on-purpose.

3 Small Words, though!

Fever Dog is better than most of the songs it's standing in for.

Falling Slowly slaps, though it's only supposed to be a hit in a very local way.

Most if not all of the Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack?

Repeating earlier, easier sections fosters mastery of the game overall, but that's sort of in tension with the joy (or *a* joy, one especially dramatic joy) of challenging games: namely, barely squeaking by.

Squeaking by frequently means succeeding messily and without mastery. (3/2, with apologies)
drewmm.com
Though this often comes out of a sincere & well-intentioned commitment to challenge, in effect it's not that different from a game asking me to do the same activity over and over for a random roll, say.

Show me something new! And then let me keep engaging with the new thing you're showing me! (2/2)
drewmm.com
I was thinking about this while playing Silksong.

I truly enjoy replaying a section I've failed at--but replaying a section I've already *succeeded* at, in order to get back to the one I've failed at, does often feel bad to me. (1/2)
drewmm.com
This looks rather good.

It's been a while.

Glad to be announcing a new game, and happy that it is something experimental and weird: a tiny, tense, turn-based strategy game about merging units into spectacular combinations, and then watching them evaporate thousands of bugs.
