On Friday 18 blue state attorneys general BLASTED the Federal Trade Commission, telling it to back off trans youth healthcare and warning of an insidious attempt to reshape the regulation of medicine in the US.

One last note, but I think it's as important to samurai-genre tropes that there's a deeper consideration on violence and how to use it vs the action itself. There's the image of samurai as philosopher warriors, and that's not entirely true, but in media rep and tropes, it's pretty expected.

Musashi has a ton of adaptations, as well. But I hiiighly encourage you to read at least some of the book. It's a beefy boy, but it's sooo readable.

Not samurai-exactly, but chanbara; I love the Zatoichi movies. It also nails the wandering swordsman vibe of a lot of Samurai movies. Lone Wolf and Cub is another good series to look at. (LW&C is based on a manga, so it has that kinda anime inspiration behind it too)

Of course, as you mentioned, Kurosawa is a place to go. I would recommend Yojimbo, as it's actually a pretty goofy movie while also hitting some of the samurai-as-drifter beats. A lot of fun. Also, Sergio Leone ripped it off for A Fistful of Dollars, which draws parallels between cowboy and samurai

Some samurai fiction and chanbara that I really love: Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa. It is (imo) /the/ novel to read to pick up all the tropes that are important. It was originally published serialized in the 30s, but it is so much fun and you can see the influence it has on media now. Esp Demon Slayer.
