Lots of research supports the conclusion that in the US parents want their kids to feel safe, cared for, and instructed in what they'll need to know to thrive as adults. The anti-DEI hatred being whipped up appeals to a very limited audience unless the fears are stoked without opposition.

I was told not to teach a class on the intellectual histories of Zionism and Anti-Zionism next year - not because they doubted I could teach it fairly, but because it would attract too many politicians scrutinizing the syllabus.

Again, this is what the SCOTUS has sanctioned. On Sept. 10th @chrislhayes.bsky.social and I talked about Justice Kavanaugh’s opinion white-washing ICE raids in Noem v. Vazquez Perdomo. His fact-free opinion was either naive, lazy, or sinister. The Trump Admin read it as a green light.

This is your regular reminder that there is no research showing that active shooter drills save lives--and there is a wealth of research showing that they traumatize kids and staff.

I just received our school's heads-up and form for opting out our kids. If yours doesn't do the same, ask for it.

This is pathetic. Our union wouldn't have to be "on the lookout" for ways to recognize NYC education workers value if it mobilized members and fought hard for the dignity of their labor.
