Chic hits #1 today in 1978 with “Le Freak”, a song originally titled “F**k Off!” — and written after the band was turned away by the bouncers at Studio 54.

“We go back to my apartment really pissed off,” said Nile Rodgers, “and Bernard starts singing, ‘Ahhh, f**k off!’ .. and that became the hook.”

Rabbiatu is a nurse who worked during COVID, had been in the U.S. 30 years. A judge ordered that she could not be sent back to Sierra Leone for her safety, for fear of torture (!). So our evil regime sent her to Ghana (in shackles), and Ghana dragged her back to Sierra Leone.
🧵This 58-year-old nurse from Maryland is seen being violently dragged along the ground by officials in Ghana.

Trump deported her there.

This abhorrent & disgusting abuse of a woman who saved American lives and cared for injured and ill Americans for 30 years.

All the details below are worse.

Rabbiatu Kuyateh was detained this summer at her annual ICE check-in, her son said. She moved to the D.C. area 30 years ago as she fled civil war in Sierra Leone.

Faith was an amazing person and legislator. She fought for marginalized groups, and doing the right thing for the people of Colorado. Her loss is devastating to all those who knew or met her. May her family and friends find some peace.
This is so tragic. Faith brought many other women into the political arena, training them and mentoring them on a local to national level.
Horrible news tonight...

Moments ago: tenants of the South Shore apartment building that federal immigration agents raided at the end of September held a presser to announce they're forming a tenants union.

They're demanding, among other things, sewage removal and heat and electricity restroration.

Please support journalists, like these, who are independent and honest!
I should be transparent. The NYT has approached @mississippifreepress.org reporters and editors about potential reporting partnerships. We have declined to have those conversations. We know it’s a reader play and don’t want clubby NYT control/influence on our reporting choices for obvious reasons.
🚨 Re ethical “national” media: The NEW YORK Times isn’t only news source with nat’l news, reach. Since 2020, readers in 50 states have grown @mississippifreepress.org reach nationally *and* in 82 counties, 8 bureaus.

Your gifts elevate ethical, non-misogynistic news as a new model.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Jack has clearly always had his political mindset focused on extremism, and that was before joining Trump's private army.
