people mistake this for being a doomer, when it's really just "bad shit is going to happen. knowing that, what do you do when it does?" very pragmatic. but some people can only function with total and complete born yesterday faith, because even a little negativity/doubt would shatter them.

I don't think I've seen Democratic voters this angry since... ever, really. Tonight doesn't even make me feel good about my anti-Blue No Matter Who stance, but at least there's never been a more obvious reveal of how the whole system is nonsense

The two party system is incompatible with democracy.

We must change our electoral system to restore democracy.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

Donald Trump’s approval rating has tanked and Republican suffered heavy losses in last week’s elections. There’s never been a better time for Senate Democrats to cave on the ACA extension.

The obsessive wokeness panic is about elite labor market competition and prestige. People use a lot of fancy words to obscure this, and offer some substantive criticisms as well, but that’s ultimately its driving force.

Hades II is amazing. There are nods to both Lattimore's and Wilson's Odyssey translations.

Lattimore: “Tell me, Muse, of the man of many ways…”
Wilson: “Tell me about a complicated man…”

Hades II: “Some know him as the man of many ways; certainly he is a complicated one.”

BULLET - "if you read this you are gay lmao"

3. [Espirit de Corps - Medium 10] "I think you should read it for yourself, Kim."

opposition to nuclear energy is by far the biggest own-goal of environmentalism. sure it isn't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than reopening coal plants

it's stunning to see people not realize that this safety net being in place throughout 2020 - trump's entire final year - and expiring during the end of Biden's first year in office clearly impacts the opinion of many lower income people about the economy

"The biggest single question the Harris campaign failed to provide an answer for to voters is where all our money went. The answer is that the rich have taken $50 trillion from the rest of us over the past five decades or so...The affordability crisis IS the inequality crisis."

After seven years of work, last Tuesday’s election was not the outcome we hoped for.

Look, storytelling is ripping off a little piece of your soul (it’s fine, souls replenish) moulding it and stretching it and twisting it into something interesting and glorious and then using that to connect to other human beings.

Computers cannot do that. They will *never* be able to do that.

i don't have high hopes tbh where is all the momentum we saw 3 months ago? where's the policy? where's literally anything to get people excited to vote for them?

Harris's new Medicare home care policy is genuinely great. Pair that with a returned child tax credit and that's millions of people lifted out of poverty
