And it also meant your collective hit points went up, you lost abilities as you lost HP in combat (because your party members were taken down). We didn't play enough to really work out the implications, though.

...it sort of anticipated party-based computer games and later JRPGs in that your character didn't get better, you leveled up by adding more members to your party (kind of necessary when there was just the two of us!). So, at "level 6" your party had six members, covering more bases.

I read Space Skimmer something like 35 years ago, and parts of it still stick with me, particularly the economics. And the lack of bathroom facilities that the protagonist could find.

It's all helmets. First wave is this, KC-59 (Chiefs), Starblitz (Cowboys), and Steelsmash (Steelers). All have the same bodies, but there's two different head molds.
