People who know me from elsewhere who are part of a new migration wave, please don't be offended if I don't follow back. My feed is about as active as I can manage following right now.

Polar is tricky, because the unit vectors are perhaps most clearly defined as "the direction that component increases," and that ties into the polar definition of angle (zero at +x, increases counter-clockwise). Of course, I'm currently in the middle of saying, "Actually, rotate around k-hat...."

Well, Drake was already a rapper in 2015....

If the moving object is the origin, then any N2L analysis will have problems and require extra forces like centrifugal and Coriolis. (I introduce frames of reference in the same lecture as centripetal acceleration, and come back to it when doing forces.)

Only to the extent that it's negative of the unit vector. Thing is, down can be positive (something I encourage them to think about for things like falling).

The reason is we're analyzing circular motion, and we need an inertial frame of reference if Newton's Second Law is going to work.

Radial is the vector component, centripetal is something in the negative r-hat direction. But I exclusively teach calculus-based, so I can assume they've seen polar coordinates before.

I haven't seen any Tron toys in stores, just online Collector Stuff like the HasLab set (which won't even ship until next year at the earliest). Then again, there's been a lot of toys I didn't see on shelves until they hit Ollie's or Ross.

Huh, shows as deleted. I presume from comments that it involved Wussolini somehow?

I like how the standard layout results in "Month of the terrible ALT" in the preview. FEAR THE ALT TAG!

Yep, the 90s, only "oh no, no no no" years ago.
