Things can get much better.
Have you seen the A24-style trailer for the sound of music?

I stopped watching about halfway through season 2. Is it worth going back to finish it?

This also really ought to put the entire “send in the troops” editorial episode in a much clearer context for everyone who decided the important takeaway was an “out of control” newsroom rather than y’know a sitting Senator calling for people to be shot in the street.

At the very least, you should watch the Gods of the Arena prequel season. It was perfect start to finish.

Just perfect physical acting.

The scene where Crixus returns from injury and challenges Spartacus to a sparring match, and one of the other characters tells Crixus to show him who the real champion of Capua is. Whitfield gives him the most calmly arrogant look and says, "yes, show me." Then proceeds to beat the crap out of him.

I appreciated Liam McIntrye, but his Spartacus was a noble leader of men. Whitfield's Spartacus was "I'm the baddest MFer here and I love to prove it every chance I get."

The first episode was laughably bad. But by the time I finished the "bringer of rain" episode, I was convinced it was the greatest series ever.

2/2 It is also, as Ryan says, 1 of the best explorations of sexual consent, violence, & power dynamics in modern media. The repeated #Spartacus line of elite enslavers, which frames my book chapter on rape, is “Apologies. I did not know the girl held meaning." It gets at the crux of dehumanization.

I'm sure that's a big part of why K-pop is so popular.

My experience with aging involves applying that statement to more and more facets of culture.

"I'm not the target audience for this music." Something I learned to say a decade or two ago

Even if an imminent full collapse is not actually a near-time threat, it seems clear that no one is going to fix the BQE until something unnecessarily tragic happens to the cantilever.

Thats exactly the chilling effect this argument results in. "I'm not that disabled, someone needs it more than me, etc" Its projecting scarcity onto a program instead of allowing for abundant need, and it means fewer people get help.
