There was a 2022 #emptyspaces Twitter microfic I think about from time to time. A visitor to a Witch is surprised to find the doll curled up in the Witch's lap is a combat doll.

In kink, we differentiate between "hurt" and "harm". Hurt creates sensations — often interpreted as uncomfortable — that add to a positive experience. Harm causes damage that subtracts something from the person harmed.

Watching this No Kings stuff reminds me a lot of how @mikeduncan.bsky.social described the leadup to Bloody Sunday. Very little serious political will on display--everyone's obeying the law, bringing their kids, treating it like a big picnic.

I can't find that empty spaces voice anymore. I try to write about a vulnerable young woman being emotionally and sexually abused by a giant wolf-crab-demon, and it comes off less like traumakink and more like a generic bodice ripper. Annoyed.
