There is no sight that more efficiently puts the lie to immigration “court” than the common sight of children “representing themselves.” Children too small to climb into the chair, children in pajamas who don’t know where they are, children not yet old enough to speak.

One of the erroneous assumptions I see people making in the current immigration & citizenship debate is assuming legal citizenship determined access to rights/privileges for all people. That was not true before the 14th Amendment's birthright citizenship clause AND legal citizenship before that 1/

looked very different for European migrants who could naturalize fairly easily as they were treated as "immigrants in waiting" Hiroshi Motomura's phrase; they were assumed to be on their way to legal citizenship upon arrival. Not true for free Black people including those born here. 2/

The citizenship of free Black Americans wasn't clear until the birthright citiz clause. Lacking formal citizenship, they were the targets of state discriminatory laws of all kinds. The State Dept wouldn't issue passports, saying they weren't US citizens. That changed w/ birthright citizenship. 3/

In December 1938, three American Quakers went to Gestapo headquarters to secure permission to help Jews leave Germany and provide humanitarian aid. When Nazi officers withdrew to deliberate, the Quakers held silent worship. Their request was granted, and hundreds of Jews emigrated to safety.

Your citizenship could be at risk.

Our research with Reprieve shows that 9 million people could have their citizenship stripped at the discretion of the UK Home Office, including 3 out of 5 people of colour.

“Efforts to reduce the foreign born population”

ethnic cleansing

That’s called ethnic cleansing
The Trump administration’s efforts to reduce the foreign-born population are being felt across the country. A past era of immigration crackdowns contains some lessons on how walling off the U.S. now will profoundly alter daily life for millions of Americans.
What America Might Look Like With Zero Immigration
The Trump administration’s efforts to reduce the foreign-born population are being felt in hospitals and soccer leagues and on Main Streets across the country, with hints of what’s to come.

Many of us are exhausted having worked to learn the truth of our own history on our own, but also having to learn the history of American white people that most white ppl refuse to learn.

That is partly why when you say “why are you surprised” it’s so annoying. Believe me, we are not surprised!

As Trump sunsets and backlash builds, expect a focus shift to the UK—where some see brighter possibilities for fascism, network states, and monarchies.

More relevant is the history of "empire by private contract"--essentially, letting lunatics wild out and declare themselves god-emperors of various tracts of land occupied by others--which I analyzed at length in my book last year, discussing the broligarchs and their political agenda.

Read Jim's whole thread! I also want to add some historical context. During the 1918 pandemic, there was so much confusion because many scientists still thought that a bacteria, not a virus caused the flu (because, as Jim notes, we couldn't even see viruses under a microscope yet).
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has stated that the 1918 flu pandemic was caused by a lab virus from vaccine research, a defective influenza vaccine. Let’s analyze what a lie this is. First, in 1918, 107 years ago, virology was in its infancy
