Friend/mentor this week told me "people who get excited about generative AI tools are people who are NOT artists but who really WANT to be." In my circle of colleagues, those who have not been able to achieve filmmaking IRL are the most excited about AI. 🤷‍♀️

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

Here's the reality: they've backed themselves into a corner. If they bring him home there will be hell to pay. It's clear that they believe that the lesser hell is not bringing him home. So we need to make that hell the worse hell. Start calling and screaming at all of your representatives now! 1/2

Chaplin going hard in THE IMMIGRANT (1917), cutting from a shot of the Statue of Liberty to the dehumanizing treatment of the immigrants aboard a ship (with a tiny dallop of slapstick thrown in).

3/17/25 live pentagon briefing comedy routine opening zinger "...in line with the secretary's vision to make this the most transparent department of defense in history". The secretary being a raging alcoholic & the department in question being one that has never passed a single audit ever.

Nothing like watching the pentagon briefing about how we're relentlessly dropping bombs on yemen and the guy talking is trying to do a standup comedy routine as an opener to just loosen up the crowd a bit.

Dreaming of the day post production gets the respect it deserves. For now tho I get to watch Sound and VFX winners at the academy awards get their mics cut off while others are allowed to warble on. Someday tho!

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

From my recent experience, the police took me to the local city jail (credit to HBPD, they were polite and professional the entire time), where they searched me and put me in a cell. Then I had to wait while they figured out what I was getting charged with (disrupting an assembly)
Many likely don't protest due to fear of being arrested because they don't know what happens during and after the arrest. Can you share or point people to resources on what happens when you're arrested and the process after? It may help people come to terms with it.

I'm guilty of not knowing

Jim Acosta: I think the AP should consider whether or not to sue the administration… and the rest of the press corps should start seriously considering whether it’s worth sending everyone into the Oval Office, onto Air Force One, or into the briefing room.

New Yorkers:

I don't care how much you (and so many of us) hate the established Democratic Party. PLEASE REGISTER AS A DEMOCRAT by this Thursday.

It's the only way to vote in the mayoral and council primaries, which, as usual in NYC, is basically THE general election (in most of the city).
