I think most of who have worked in writing or entertainment know that piracy is a fact of life, and has been for a long time now.

But there’s a difference between a broke student downloading a PDF of your book, and a multibillion dollar company stealing your work for its own bullshit purposes.
Search the LibGen database here, and peer inside a pirated library of millions of books and research papers used by Meta and others:

NEW! Sworn declarations filed last night confirm the Trump admin sent INNOCENT people to rot in prison El Salvador, including a professional soccer player jailed and tortured by the Maduro regime, who entered this country LEGALLY to seek asylum, and who has NO CRIMINAL RECORD in either country.

i need to go to the US a couple times in the next two months for work things i agreed to before all this and these stories make me legitimately nervous about crossing the border
Le Monde reporting that a French scientist traveling to Houston to attend a conference was denied entry to US after a search of his phone & computer revealed messages critical of Trump's science cuts, "which [says CPB] conveyed hatred of Trump & could be qualified as terrorism". USIP owns their building. DOGE is vandalizing a building the federal government DOES NOT OWN.
After breaking into the US Institute of Peace (USIP) Monday, DOGE members immediately got to work taking down signs to erase the independent agency.

Photos taken yesterday shared directly with me:

Clearest proof yet that the Trump admin uses "DEI" to mean "nonwhite people doing something impressive and getting credit."

Navajo Code Talkers made a big difference in WWII. The Axis had more trouble translating their language than cracking codes. And it's not like the Navajo owed the US anything.

increasingly feels like if US democracy is going to survive, all these establishment dems whose entire ideology is premised on the belief in the “good republican” need to be primaried and exiled from the party
Schumer told Annie Karni and Luke Broadwater: “Here’s my hope … after this election, when the Republican party expels the turd of Donald Trump, it will go back to being the old Republican party.”

After news broke that Meta may pull a Musk and leave Delaware, the state’s Gov. invited Meta corp. secretary, policy director & attorneys to urgent weekend meetings. Two weeks later, Delaware legislators were asked to vote on a bill to overhaul the state’s corporate law. www.cnbc.com/2025/03/19/m...
Meta's potential exit from Delaware had governor worried enough to call special weekend meetings
As Delaware lawmakers debate a bill that could dramatically alter the state's corporate law, Meta and CEO Mark Zuckerberg have a lot at stake in the outcome.

to be clear, USIP staff spoke to MPD prior and then called them to report DOGE as trespassers and when the cops showed up they instead held the door open for Musk’s thugs.
to me the most disturbing fact about DOGE’s raid on the US Institute of Peace is that the local cops helped them.

They claim they can snatch people up, put them on planes, and deport them to a country run by an authoritarian, where those people will be forced to work slave labor at an inhumane prison. All without due process, and in defiance of federal courts.

The hypotheticals are over. This is the nightmare.

Holy crap. The DOJ is arguing that the President can unilaterally deport anyone he wants without ANY statutory authority, just on his inherent authority as President over national security.

That is a terrifying claim to make and not one that has ever been recognized before in US history.

So what’s the remedy here?

A court order that would have delayed the deportation of Dr. Rasha Alawieh was issued while her plane was on the tarmac, but it took off anyway.
