I grieve for the students at Brown University who witnessed the horrific shooting. People in America need POLICY & CHANGE, not “thoughts and prayers”. Colleges & universities should be places of learning, research & community, not trauma & loss. 💔

Our hearts are with the students, staff, and families at Brown.

We don’t have to live this way.

I am disappointed in the statements by current #NWSL player Elizabeth Eddy about gender testing. Trans rights are human rights! Her comments put several players, especially Black ones, at risk due to the NWSL’s inability to protect people such as Barbra Banda. The league must condemn those comments.

Nigeria have made the second round of African World Cup qualifying after beating Benin 4-0 today. While this is welcome progress, there is still a long way to go for Nigeria. They will need to win an African semifinal, an African final and one inter-confederation game to qualify for World Cup 2026.

Washington Spirit just shouted out federal employees mid game, to a huge ovation 🥹

I’m glad to see that the Washington Spirit is showing love to current & former federal employees. They make America great!

Different roots. Same home. ONE SPIRIT 💛

The first 200 federal employees can claim a voucher for a free ticket on a first-come, first-served basis.

After that, a limited number of $10 tickets for federal employees will be available so you can bring your friends & family!

I am glad that the #NWSL chose to abandon the game tonight. It seems they have learned from Savy King’s medical emergency earlier this season. I hope that Savannah DeMelo recovers well. Tonight, the players’ well-being mattered more than the soccer game.
Sending all our love to Savannah DeMelo 💜

What about Illinois? If anyone from IL sees this, please keep me updated.
Several states have issued orders or taken similar actions to protect access to COVID vaccines including: CO, MA, MD, MN, NM, NY, PA, WA

Please call your Governor's office and demand that they take action to make sure COVID vaccines are accessible to everyone!

The dismantling of US science is depressing. But Americans need to consider the bigger picture: creating a fairer, more equitable science enterprise for everybody. Canada, China, Japan, the EU, Australia & New Zealand also need to improve their science funding systems in response!
AND we need to take this opportunity to build the scientific enterprise back BETTER than what was really only kinda working in the first place. That’s gonna take a lot of that soul searching and listening and learning yall were supposedly doing in 2020 but seem to have forgotten about

For the eleventy billionth time:

Attacks on science funding and science jobs in the United States don’t mean that science will just move elsewhere.

It means a lot less science for everyone.

There aren’t enough jobs or funding everywhere else )combined) for US scientists to just move.
Some are embracing the fantasy that the cuts to #NIH funding will only have an impact here in the USA. As Nature reports, the NIH is the largest global funder by far and dwarfs the rest of the world’s funders of biomedical research.

Organizations like @standupforscience.bsky.social and @savehealthresearch.bsky.social are trying to resist this. I want the best for America, so I will keep advocating for science funding and an end to censorship for as long as it takes. Women & minorities deserve to be researched too!
