This firefighter arrived in the US at age 4, has been here for 19 years, was on track to legal status, and was on a crew trying to contain a major blaze (in Washington state, vs Oregon, fwiw.)

This firefighter arrived in the US at age 4, has been here for 19 years, was on track to legal status, and was on a crew trying to contain a major blaze (in Washington state, vs Oregon, fwiw.)

This is an excellent thread. I just had a conversation with the lady seated next to me because I pulled out a sketch book to dick around a little and she started in with talent and noooo this is 8-9 months of practicing. I like the weight training metaphor in here too.
I’m late to the conversation, but I keep thinking about it and want to touch on the whole learning art is a miserable thing. I’m not going to share the screenshots, because I’d rather just talk about my thoughts on learning art. Hopefully, it helps people who feel discouraged about their journey. 🧵
