interesting to think that revolutionary era americans understood themselves as making a break with the “old world” and establishing a new civilization. and crucially, this new civilization rested on republican self-government, not “sovereignty.”
The Rubio speech really is appalling, and if you haven’t read it yet, you should.

If we find out Kristi Noem's "special blanket" was playing the role of Tom Homan's "special Cava bag" then I'm going to lose it.

Every single time a story like this is reported, we must assume that there are many many more that do not.
CBP didn’t give her or anyone any water; she asked 3 times accg to other reports. CBP killed a 7yr old.

Sure, give the agents who can't use nonlethal rounds without screwing it up access to an anti-aircraft death ray. What could go wrong.

Quick question: What idiot thought it was a good idea to give Kristi Noem an anti-aircraft death ray?
El Paso airspace was suddenly closed on Tuesday because Homeland Security jackasses tested a new anti-drone laser NEXT TO AN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.

To be fair lawmakers are finding things in 10 minutes that the DoJ wasn't able to find for years so maybe DoJ is just looking for pointers on how to do that.
CNN confirms what MSNBC reported live a few hours ago: DOJ is surveilling Dem lawmakers when they go to the DOJ to search unredacted Epstein files.
CNN: "Another photograph - these are notes AG Bondi brought to the hearing today. This shows a list of Rep. Jayapal's search history. Lawmakers are allowed to go to a DOJ facility to search unredacted files. We learned from this photo that the searches are apparently being tracked & read by the DOJ"

The alleged attorney general of the United States is not supposed to be glassy-eyed insult comic who spends more time compiling material for her bits than she does doing her day job.

It's honestly amazing our Congress doesn't have more fistfights, given how this stuff works in many other countries.

BONDI: And with this antisemitic culture right now, she voted against a resolution--

BALINT: You want to go there! Really? Talking about antisemitism to a woman who lost her grandfather in the Holocaust! *storms off*

Sorry for too many AI posts but as a tech guy, this is like watching a pocket calculator salesmen tell you "See the M button? It's for MakeCancerGoAway" and no buddy that is not how any of this works.
February 11, 2026 at 6:45 PM
Again, the biggest probs with this gen of AI is that it 1) costs a fortune to produce results that are 2) riddled with errors due to the foundational design of the tech. There are not enough pay-for use cases to keep these companies afloat, and "hype" is the only thing keeping the bubble unpopped.
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

This is a huge deal. After years of leading in fundraising, Dem small donors are (rightly) pissed off at the spam texts and emails, as well as at congressional leadership. Meanwhile, GOP billionaire money is hitting record levels. Perfect storm.

Minnesota still needs your attention
This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

Yes. Miller knows those people can't all be deported. He knows they will be in camps. We need to understand: many, many people in Trump's circle read about the Nazis, openly admire Hitler, and want to emulate what Hitler did. We have to accept how serious this is - we cannot hide from it.
Dear all saying no worries, Trump can't round up 10M immigrants because their work is needed for the US economy: please, remember that MOST of the camps in Germany from 1938 were "Arbeitslager" - labor camps. Deporting people is hard. But locking people up and making them work, that's been done. 1/

I don't understand these scams because if you're gonna do this, why have authors at all? Outsource it to readers. A reader can ask AI "write a romance book where Shrek battles the Lobster God of Nantucket." Then they read it, cry themselves to sleep, and repeat. I'm sure that'll work out fine.
The whole article is repulsive but this passage is at the core of it. She has no interest in writing books, she wants to win some kind of competition that nobody entered
