During today's episode of ABC's "The View," there was *zero* mention of the network's controversial decision to pull the plug on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like.
Let’s be clear about what happened to Jimmy Kimmel
Trump’s most brazen attack on free speech yet.

ABC, NBC & CBS dedicated about 16 minutes of airtime last night to the California wildfires without once mentioning climate change.

Since the news failed do it's job, here's a short summary of the role of climate change and wildfire risk:

Just used this and set a bunch of controls. Excited to eliminate the bullshit before it ever reaches me!!
Experimenting with @skywatch.blue, a labeling feature that identifies (or hides) Bluesky accounts exhibiting features strongly associated with misinformation, harassment, trolling, Nazism, etc. It's granular — opting in gives you a lot of choices about behaviors. I recommend playing with it.

You can help stop the fires in Los Angeles.

The LA Fire Department Foundation has a wildfire emergency fund, and online donations are helping them buy firefighters tools to contain the infernos.

Remember when publicly doing the right thing was called "setting a good example"?

Now it's called "virtue signaling" and, apparently, a bad thing.

When we see narratives that blame the most vulnerable people for problems caused by the most powerful, I think it’s important to remember that this viral spread of misinfo is a more pervasive version of what the powerful have always done to defend themselves, with tech they steered in this direction

we don’t need climate action just for future generations, we need it now.

the climate crisis is here, all around us

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

i may never know their names but their care changed our lives… we all can play a role in the care ecosystem, even when we can’t give monetarily. find ways to show your heart and recognize those in the wake of destruction. 🌀
a postscript: people often assume that being resourced in the aftermath means shelling out money to others… that’s a part of it but one of the things that touched me most after katrina were the quilts a church group in another state sent for my family that we still have.

care comes in many forms.

when i was newly a katrina survivor the framing was “this is once in a lifetime moment” …there have now been million lifetimes loss to natural and manmade disasters.

what’s true is what’s always been: communities of care transform destruction into unending possibility and hope.
