From my 2017 essay, "Send the interns." pressthink.org/2017/01/send...

It is relevant again because we have headlines today like this from Politico. "White House seizes control of press pool, will decide which outlets cover events with president."

You might have missed it, but Amazon warehouse workers in Raleigh, NC are voting this week on whether to form a union.

If they win, they'll be the first unionized Amazon facility in the South.

Remember that we can always find hope in the labor movement.

“People are doing things.”
Tesla stores and charging stations are now protest hotspots!

Turns out, unelected Elon Musk and his fake government agency, DOGE, aren’t sitting well with folks watching democracy get gutted.

Trump's attacks on federal workers have led to a surge in union signups, according to AFGE. The union's goal was to hit 325K members by end of 2025 but they might hit it by end of this week.

“I really want to send him an organizing award,” union prez says of Trump.

His illiquidity is the danger. He has to keep doing shit like this. The Not Actually Real Money Bus must be kept above $200 billion or it will explode. All of this shit is basically debt and blackmail and it's forcing people like Musk into increasingly precarious and dangerous positions.
may be beside the point/extremely obvious but i feel like you can only ignore extreme wealth inequality for so long before it metastasizes into something that fundamentally remakes and destabilizes the world by giving people access to so much money that they are fully above consequence
A consortium led by Elon Musk has made an unsolicited bid to buy the nonprofit that controls OpenAI for $97.4 billion. Huge scoop by @jtoonkel and @berber_jin1 www.wsj.com/tech/elon-mu...

Jamelle is being jokey of course but I actually think it's fairly reasonable to assume there are people in Congress who have forgotten what The Point of congress actually is.
so i don’t know if susan collins knows this but she belongs to a body that has the constitutionally designated power to tell HHS to stop making these cuts because they do not have the authority to unilaterally refuse to spend congressional appropriations.
Senate Appropriations Chair Susan Collins slams the Trump admin’s NIH cuts as “poorly conceived” and says she has called RFK to “to express my strong opposition to these arbitrary cuts in funding for vital research.” She says he promised to “re-examine this initiative” if confirmed as HHS secretary.

Elon Musk’s staffers are still attempting to manipulate the Treasury payment system to halt the flow of funds following their recent losses. Reminder: U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly has restricted DOGE’s read-only access. No one is above the law.

Congress was denied entry to both the U.S. Department of Education and the Treasury, where Musk staffers blocked the doors. Along with its appropriations responsibilities, Congress holds oversight authority over federal agencies. Blocking congressional access to these agencies is illegal.

These pictures are when Black Lives Matter came to the Capitol and protested. They were actually interested in having a conversation. Contrary to popular belief they didn't beat us with flag poles.
Yes that's me in the pictures.

Hell yeah. Hold the line. This is what we need people to do.

Slow things down, don’t comply in advance so the courts have time to stop them. It’s starting to work.
Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

The government cannot use Guantánamo as a legal black hole to violate immigrants' rights.

The agreement will last until the judge decides whether to grant a preliminary injunction.
