Andy Burnham’s call for Britain to rejoin the EU sets Labour

“on an irreversible course towards adopting rejoin as an official position”

Why is Starmer becoming more confident criticising Brexit? Because quietly, without any great drama, a consensus has been reached. It's a disaster inews.co.uk/opinion/brex...

It was my pleasure to join the Thank EU for the Music team handing out EU flags at the Proms, Royal Albert Hall

While the small, peaceful, friendly flag-waving efforts received no attention, the world’s media were out in force for Tommy Robinson’s hate rally
What’s in a flag?

Leaving the ECHR won’t “Take Back Control” – it will hand your rights to politicians

Oops! Well, this is awkward 😊
YouGov survey shows shift in attitudes to Brexit debate & suggests Nigel Farage’s continued hostility towards the EU is not even landing with his own partys supporters

55% of Reform UK voters want a permanent youth mobility scheme for young people in the UK and Europe
Even Reform voters now want to unpick this one Brexit measure, shock poll reveals
Exclusive: A YouGov poll has revealed attitudes to Brexit may be changing – even among Nigel Farage’s supporters

An EU youth mobility scheme would give our young people greater opportunities, boost our economy and raise living standards.

New research shows the public overwhelmingly back it ⬇️

Despite the media attention he receives, Farage does not represent the majority of people in Britain, nor the values that our country is built on - cooperation, democracy, fairness, human rights and the rule of law.

Don't let him persuade you his policies are popular.

@yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk letter from Vice Chair @jazz072.bsky.social highlights important point that many voting Leave in 2016 now support #EU membership: A positive change of mind that’s stark contrast with anger & abuse expressed by some #Brexit supporters. #RejoinEU #BrexitReality
This letter appeared in the Yorkshire Evening Post on 26 August 2025. Jas Olak, Vice Chair of Leeds for Europe, highlights the fact many one time Leave voters now support rejoining the European Union. That change of mind is much more positive than just throwing abuse at campaigners for rejoining.

Indeed. Brexit also cut UK’s access to the Schengen Security Information live database & Europol, hindering UKs ability to vet applicants

Brexit also meant the UK left the Dublin Regulation which allowed asylum seekers to be returned to EU countries

All factors in a bloated, dis functional system
ottoenglish.bsky.social
Here's a fact for you all.

Prior to 2017 there was not a single documented case of any individual travelling by small boats across the English Channel to caim asylum in the UK.

Not ONE.

This current 'boats' crisis has been largely caused by Brexit.

But for some reason NOBODY is saying that.

Brexiters often refer to UK exports as being very strong. In the case of services this is the case and service exports have grown, however they are still 16% less than they would have been if we had not left the EU.

Britain would be doing well if it had remained in the European Union
leedseurope.bsky.social
“The services sector is our most important economic asset, accounting for 80% of total UK output.  However, the latest research by London School of Economics (LSE) shows that services exports have declined by around 16% in the EU markets most affected by Brexit-related trade barriers. “
The Reality of UK Services Trade Post-Brexit  - British Chambers of Commerce
The services sector represents 80% of UK output, but LSE research indicates a 16% drop in services exports to key EU markets affected by Brexit trade barriers.

And expect that number to shrink further.

No matter how much the government, major parties, or tabloid press push “Brexit benefits…”

People know Brexit doesn’t.

Brexit leaves the UK in a structurally weaker position, bleeding money, time, efficiency and opportunity daily.
Sunday Times cover saying new poll shows only 29% would vote for Brexit now.

UK media analysis of US-EU + US-UK 'deals' fails to take account of fact UK is more vulnerable to Trump's tariffs. US takes 15% of UK goods exports and -when intra single-market trade included - only 8% of EU Member States' exports. Also easier for EU MS to replace US customers with EU ones.
