That's not my name
@endoubleu.bsky.social
You probably know me for my bird illustrations and sewing stuff, and maybe dinner, but on this profile I'm just me, for the social side.
There's a business me too, if you know where to look.

If nibling is the gender neutral term for your siblings offspring, what is the gender neutral term for you (the sibling of the parents of said offspring)?

So far I’ve spent the first day on holiday in bed, and have made the sensible decision that a solo road trip while R works from his mum’s home is not the best idea.

I thought I was finally getting my energy back into balance after catching Covid in July 2024.

(Days in bed Is how I balance.)

Wellington really is such a scenic city. Where else would you get an inner city suburb that looks like this?

If I can make the ADHD overwhelm that’s stopped me doing anything today, and can overcome it, right?

Why is this app asking for my age in AoNZ? The Bill has only just been announced.

All right, crafty folks.
I need everyone who sees this to keep a look out for the following shawls. They were lost by FedEx on the way to Barcelona Knits, and have been declared "unrecoverable".

This is thoussands of euros of work & materials, not to mention their value at Trunk Shows & Workshops.

Had my first publicly funded lymphoedema appointment today, after 5 1/2 years living with this condition.

Got absolutely soaked despite my tramping grade raincoat (thanks Wellington weather) but the good news is that new research since my initial diagnosis means I have updated self-care techniques.

It’s very busy at the blood test place today… I think every chair is full.

Nah. I can write off each year's crop of grass. Impossible to harvest as mowers are extinct.

Is there some kind of launch happening today? There’s a queue of 50+ people outside PBTech

I’m in a conversation about dogs and how they can make people (including myself) anxious, but I just want to balance it out a bit, because some dogs are actually deep down very good boys or girls.
So a couple of stories. TW: death of parents, last week was the anniversary for both Mummy and Daddy.

This is pretty much the exact thing that basically stops me buying anything anytime I've had to go to the USA - I never actually know how much anything is going to cost.

In answer to @shinylion.bsky.social's question, the easy solution is to display prices to consumers with the sales tax included.
The problem here (and I’m hoping smart people are working on it) is the sales tax which changes from town to town and county to county and state to state.

$8.05 + 8.25 % sales tax = $8.714125

How will that be rounded off?

I’m trying to get a sense of whether a quote is reasonable for somewhat urgent work…

If you’ve had a low-pressure hot water cylinder replaced with an external heat-pump ready (not necessarily included) one recently in Wellington/Lower Hutt, would you mind sharing the approximate cost?

Tom Hanks explains to Stephen Colbert why he masks on the subway:

"I'm doing a play right now so I cannot get sick... I've had COVID enough in my life, I don't need to do that again. So I'm wearing this for health reasons."

Thank you Tom! Masks are still a key part of public health.

I feel like we’re this effing close to starting to insert “giving effect to the whims of Seymour” into our public sector legislation.

Do not like.

*Just quietly* if you've been looking at business me's posts over the last week, wishing you could order, but need a bit more time... while we've made the choice not to offer AfterPay, good old fashioned layby might be possible, if you're someone who knows me well enough to join the dots. ;)

Is there anyone in Pōneke/Te Awakairangi-Kāpiti who could use a fold-away sewing cabinet or two? They’re a bit banged up, but still sturdy and functional.
One single-leaf with drawer, one double-leaf with Horn-Lifter.

I’m finally getting my custom-made workroom set up. 🎉

Also offering elsewhere.

Didn't we ban fireworks already?

And wasn't everyone's mum really strict that they were ONLY EVER ALLOWED to be set off on 5 November, unless it was horrid weather, and then, and ONLY THEN could they be set off on the next clear night?

It's always a fun time when you get a sudden itch on an area of your body that has no sensation (severed nerves). It's literally an itch I can't scratch.

Who do I follow who is a Trustee for a registered charity in Aotearoa, and would be willing to have a chat about their banking experience? Basically just trying to work out if our dealings with our current bank are typical, or whether we should be looking around for a new bank.
